Yeah mate the distance is the killer, will try some home remedies to clean out gum residue coating inside current tank, untill then cant weld the mofo.

Larger overflow hose means love taps to vb-k bootfloor to get it through gap…chop 40mm off vn filler neck & add vn-s fuel sender plug then it’s done lol

AV8 is pretty cool reading with couple of guys doing home rebuilds on humble ol’ $50 red 253.

Thing about efi 5l is need bump up the compression with flat tops + small cam & do the required oil mods…attend to those 2 issues can leave the rest standard, just reco.

That way down line if wanting more fast wont need to pull engine down…besides once learn all oil mods you’ll either develop the  ol’ 5 litre fetish or hate them.

Agree on dyno cant see it making a big change maybe a little.

However on street or track will be notable change with cooler air pushed/sucked in…imagine difference be like driving on hot day then again on cold night.

Probably VATS not working with supplied memcal if car is vr or later model.

Best not to drive it on stock memcal.

    Nice!

    Like these type of builds.

On the vk borgy are they equal length axles or 1 long 1 short like other diffs?

Also did you have much spline left after shortening vn axles?

Did similar but with vl diff but needed 2 long vn-s axles narrowed down…short axle was spot on,the long axle guessing was just trimmed with grinder has about 20mm spline at end before tapers down.

Best bet is do lots of research then do most of the labour yourself even then won’t be cheap but you’ll learn heaps.

    Another budget mod is shifter.

Use th700 selector rod then unbolt vn-s adjustable shifter bracket & drill/bolt or weld it to stocko vk shifter bracket….clears everything & no bashing required.

Probably have to cut small V into battery clamp/tray with efi alternator bracket BUT think if can move oil sender out of the way with right angle fitting or t-piece can use smaller belt move alternator closer to block.

Brock cold airtray would be neat thing to put on it too.

Maybe you got vt hsv headers, step out further/straighter from exhaust flange compared to vn-vs.

The joins & bends are shocking so wouldn’t hurt flow flattening offending pipe.

Starting with efi 6cyl car saves heaps time of time…can bend fuel lines up from rail to behind booster, wiring & fuel pump already set up with tachiometric relay

Grab smaller vn-s charcoal canister to replace chunky vk version on chassis rail…so much neater.

Should be some footage of it driving on his youtube page.

It’s had a journey he got it off a neighbour drove it,took engine & now you got it lol.

Few of us tried to convince him to keep it & just fit stocker bonnet.

    Sweet!!!

Kind of cheating on my ghetto vk…rusty bootfloor already cut out so just need to scallop tub just after shocker mount then dolly inner tub it to chassis rail should still fool people.

Probably try to jam ve 20×9.5 wheel in there with vl diff *fingers crossed*

Look forward to seeing yours done & hopefully restart mine mid-year.

Used just vl turbo/vn external on torrie…just filter sock end of fuel pickup & vs fuel filter after pump.

It was fine untill under 1/4 tank sometimes due to no baffling etc .

Prefer intank setup where possible …less noise

Go steal trans cooler of a vt-x from wreckers cheaply, give it good flush out…theyreok size with good size brackets to mount it out front…vr-s towpack transcoolers were smaller from memory.

Black vh sle  CHE did was cool they lucked out with a Caddy top & Lowe chassis spacers to keep it all under stocker bonnet.

Bit scary lsa dudes having oil issues/bearings wpn383,psi-hdt & couple vf lsa cars on track days.

Yet magnusson charged cars seem to be ok so far.

Never took pics cars we done you wouldnt notice unless on hoist by missing or dented top shock cover & 2 dents mark in wheel tub (backyarder mod)

Copied those off maatouk cars & others at wsid drags.

VMENTL is best example & basically did similar to way Dimi did his without sledgehammer haha

Other car got sold unfinished only tell tale was lower shock mounts moved over & squarer looking passenger wheeltub

wpn383 is great example to google.

There’s also blue sle 18×9 255 tyre I think on here no mods. sle881 ????

    Much easier!!!

If you’re only going say 18×9 or 10 rim with 255-265 tyre majority of those mods wont be required..correct length diff with right offset will be essential part.

Some cars just a narrowed diff is main mod.

Bare minimum lip wheel arches, adjustable panhard & top contol arms, bit of dolly work inside wheel tub.

Then see what clearance is to lower control arm…cut outer lip & reinforce if it touches or replace.Check out lowe fabrication lower arms for image.

With salisbury/borgwarner diffs always felt no traction on street probably live forever…slicks & traction with big grunt start wondering how long lol.

Not biggest fan of heavy chunky ass 9 inch but got to admit they take abuse easier than a punched kangaroo..

Mainly the amount of customising plus extra crap modding & finetuning of things.

Yeah it’s a bitch to setup properly if you’re picky do-it-yourslfer like me that will drive car you’d expect way more for the coin.

Tubbed vh sle has that freak out factor, deep dish rims, coilovers, tubular arms, chopped seat all that jazz people toss over…

Lots of good gear under it but everytime I drove it or got under it wanted to change shit previous owners.

Minitubbed Vk is heaps neater, cost heaps less…looks close to factory except wheel size & most people cant pick it’s been done.

Same result can fit big tyres, just requires more labour than cash & most factory parts. except adjustable top arms & chopped lowers.

Shock absorber mounting points same just moved inch or so inwards to chassis rail.

White vl on here recently is a good example…depends on what rims/tyre setup, drag radials need more sidewall clearance if want 15 but larger larger diameter/low profile tyres fit easier.

Prefer neater factory opened up tubs of my unfinished vk compared big arse lairy tubbed vh sle…must be a sickness 3 tubbed cars collecting dust.

Backyarder way is cut or dent in outer shock cover then sledghammer 2 sections of inner wheel tub where tyre rubs..front part near seat is harder.Lip the wheel arches.

Cut lip off lower arm & reinforce it…also trim down seat belt bolt

Fit narrowed diff, fit bigger wheels usually simmons.

Lots of vl commo’s done that way
