Decent job considering it’s been in garage with very cold weather.
Might only need rub back & buff on doors?
Neighbours would call the cops if I tried that lol
June 12, 2017 at 8:02 pm #23137Had a line on cheap vl manual rack but no steering link but tosser just doubled price.
I’ve got vp ute too.
Rack is leaking rack & possibly clunking so I’d rather have gone manual rack than reco powersteering setup.
These would be perfect if we could do historic/60 day rego
June 12, 2017 at 7:55 pm #23136Haha no doubt that would be impressive…that the dude had lpg turbo from SC forum?
Would love to go 6 litre in shitbox vp ute one day.
June 11, 2017 at 7:31 pm #23107C’mon Cav maaa’aaate we just tryin’ to help ya spend money in right places…..really just saving you time on shit we’ve already bent or broken or mistakes lol
With plate inside car for the top control arm brackets you can still fit seat easily enough.
If you run a 9 you’ll only want to try for an 8..it never ends haha
June 11, 2017 at 7:21 pm #23106So lower vl link that gets swapped over are all same whether powersteer or manual?
June 10, 2017 at 12:40 am #23083Any more progress on this?
Did a search on vl steering this thread popped up.
Just to clarify if using vl manual rack can I get lowest link off any vl then get pressed onto vp steering link for it to work?
June 10, 2017 at 12:16 am #23082If it’s enough to scare actual shit out of ya then it’s 1hp too much
June 10, 2017 at 12:11 am #23081Gary..the anti-rollbar usually end up looking like upside down swaybar setup & very effective, does make streetcar feel more like wheelbarrow haha
Cav..stitch-weld toparm plate to floorpan from underneath then put decent sized plate inside car on top…can stitch it but not necessary.
Then back from underneath drill say 4 holes, use high tensile nuts & bolts then tighten job completed, much larger surface area for mount to pull on.
Having spool it will want to twist top bushes…add big tyres it will twist top arms/flex mounting…add slicks with big launches *tears*
Do it whilst already there.
May 27, 2017 at 9:29 pm #22955100% take screens out you’ll kick yourself if you don’t…easy to tell on these when painted with screens.
I’d cut rubber along screen if they’re old & cruddy then pop screens out yourself.
They look better with newer style especially new rubber on fresh paint is nicer detail & you want to check channels underneath free of rust.
Get a windscreen guy to refit windscreens though to make sure properly sealed.
May 27, 2017 at 9:22 pm #22954Wondered if you could drill spot welds then move that bracket with 2 studs over so there is no gap anymore.
Simplest way is bend up new longer bracket but they still look a little weird & not really fan of studs exposed like 6cyl early girls have in neatened engine bays.
How far you going with engine bay?
May 27, 2017 at 9:16 pm #22953Lightened flywheel it had..still got all my toes
Engine was a QL block taken from an ex-taxi..read David Vizard books then attempted whatever I could as holden parts were almost free & plentiful.
Basically how it looked in v8 cruiser mode for several years before hibernation.
May 26, 2017 at 7:48 pm #22943Damn good price if it solves the issue.
Been told by few blokes on e85 if fuel pressure drops it’s time to clean filters & to go little lower in micron rating to reduce clogging.
Some have fuel pressure guages after fuel pumps & at fuel rail
May 26, 2017 at 7:40 pm #22942Not sure if they’re bigger around bellhousing but the seem bigger everywhere else.
Yet to see one fitted in early girl cruiser, everyone goes th400 or glide
May 26, 2017 at 7:37 pm #22941That Sandman sounds wicked too.
Funny that even when meet peeps off a forum you still call them by username in person haha
May 26, 2017 at 7:26 pm #22939In 6cyl guise car had decent amount of xu1 gear in it including lj xu1 bathurst head…heavily ported which de-valued it greatly, the xu1 head & webbers + tax returns help fund the v8 build.
Engineering became a nightmare was just too hard to get cars passed at the time.Political BS.
Before I got tubbed sle was very close to buying rough 350 chev engineered lj gtr
Did get caught driving it covered in dust,no bonnet,no exhaust, stockers on back late one night….
Most memorable car I’ve had & way too many stories about it.

May 25, 2017 at 8:03 pm #22926L77/4L80 seem good value especially as more become available…few small mods they’d make more grunt yet retain daily drivability.
What’s required to get them into a early girl tunnel would be interesting to see.

Can’t seem to post clip only youtube link…it was that loud after 5-10mins if you didn’t have earplugs you’d get headaches.
Also taking Brock scoop off to see difference of no scoop & 9×5 aircleaner vs 9×2 + brock scoop
May 25, 2017 at 7:32 pm #22921Those are 305/50(27×11) It will take a 325/50 radial with some more work BUT 275/60 or 255/60 street tyres are fraction of the cost
Rear was tad too low, scraped sidewalls on wheelarch in storage yard doing u-turns….
Cav…yeah I’m too lazy type out specs…easier to use previous owner pics etc…kind of got decent deal out of it although it needed more sorting out than expected yet still was hard to resist bucket list car.
Changed a fair bit on car too long list but mostly making it nicer to drive..it’s more of a grumpy criuser than obnoxious summernats pig.
May 24, 2017 at 6:48 pm #22907Been doing a little bit of work on this lately..had a few issues trying to set rear end up better & fell into trap of changing things that annoyed me lol
Got diff centred, should stay straighter under power…tyres tuck wheel arches nicely & even
Said I wouldn’t do it but for now going fuel cell in boot & get twin 3″ pipes poking out back(diff dumpers too loud)
Time to slap it back together for Cars Under The Stars & do some cruising with mates.
May 24, 2017 at 6:33 pm #22906Still got 2 plastic powered early girls…although tempted go ls than build crazy holden stroker.
