Sounds good dude.Reasonably quiet too!
June 5, 2020 at 7:16 pm #322796l80e fits..issue is cross brace in tunnel hits auto so it needs to be cut/trimmed to clear then strength reinforced back in.
Several cars with 4l80e yet only seen pics of a vk with 6l80e
Before pandemic was looking at ls3 or 6l/6l80e for vp ute…must admit had been waiting ages for vz 6l/4l65 for ages to pop up.
Still want to do ls conversion but content with 304/4l60e conversion in ute for now.

February 17, 2020 at 9:47 pm #31401Nice work can see shit-tonne of hours put into that bay.
Petersen catchcan?
February 17, 2020 at 9:43 pm #31400Yeah that looks weird compared to stocker…showtime customs & fabrication on fb & website sold adjustable tierods.
Vaguely remember them being advertised or maybe they sell off another model car for their angle kits
November 27, 2019 at 9:21 pm #30612A few setbacks,such is life…plan is to get tubbed sle back on road next year.
If can get the time + money want to send motor off to TK
November 26, 2019 at 8:53 pm #30608Looks clean as hell dude
November 26, 2019 at 8:50 pm #30607Did your harness come with diagram or instructions which is tacho wire?
Monster tacho is easy just takes bit of time to do if you want to mount it all up all nice & neat then wiring…they usually end up on top of steering column or pillar with shiftlight.
green = tacho wire
black = earth
red = accessories
white = lights
vaguely remember reading that need it in 4cyl mode??? to work with ls engines..could be wrong.
Other option is dakota digital tacho interface so that factory tacho reads correctly…rocket etc have them.
November 23, 2019 at 9:46 am #30579Yeah I used the jaycar gps speedo on the sle…plug into lighter & suction cup gauge to windscreen.
You got to remember to turn it off otherwise it will stay on & after few days fubar’d if not been used or charged up…
Most of the workmates use phone apps for their 4wd’s with oversized tyres that put speedo out.
*Put in as much heat & sound deadening as you can now rather than later..moreso for stupid amount of heat that comes through firewall/floorpan.If it’s got rear muffler/resi should be ok for drone but heat is annoying.
July 27, 2019 at 11:52 am #29265Got f/glass plenum cover on vp ute….twice as much junk gets in there than factory plastic item.
You’re getting there dude!!!
July 27, 2019 at 11:49 am #292641 3/4 extractors for cam/heads ls3 will be fine but reckon you’ll need twin 3″ with mufflers then across top of diff yoke section into a 2 in 1 out rear muffler…will be tad on loud side.
Could try jamming mufflers full of steel wool & flat metal flange gasket with holes drilled in them although with cone things posted above it will run better.
Or if exhaust has v bands make centre sections interchangeable to strangle it.
Having a backup exhaust & airbox not necessarily a bad thing for engineers & just in case it gets defected.
$160’ish 2.5′ vl catback(rhino etc) with reverse flow muffler & resonator off gumtree will strangle it enough to sound like a v6
May 11, 2019 at 12:38 pm #28582Sounds crispy!!!!
185i backwards would really mess with their heads…
May 11, 2019 at 12:13 pm #28580Yeah Blake’s nutso vn is up & running…not sure if it’s driving yet still had a few things to do it but that was a few months ago.
He’d just done his supercar style exhaust when last heard from him.
It’s stupidly loud & lowwwwwwwwww
To the OP just buy the model you like look of & want to build..if it’s vn/p or vr/s stick to the plan.
I got a vp ute…building it as modern day kingy…no options as in no aircon or p/steer with whatever weight that can be taken out of it yet keep it legal.Just a demister,washer bottle & evap cannister.
Now has vs v8 auto driveline to avoid engineer process although kind of wished I’d done ls conversion.

June 28, 2018 at 8:53 pm #26660Looks very neat dude…turning out nicely.
June 28, 2018 at 8:52 pm #26659Looks same as mine 4 ballstuds threaded in with 2 rear wagon struts…might be fitted upside down,bonnet only closes with them one way iirc
May 23, 2018 at 6:29 pm #26489Been ages since last done it from memory used 4 ball studs with rear wagon struts…all bolted straight up.
Vaguely remember trying vp/s guard bracket thing which touched inside bonnet.
April 20, 2018 at 2:01 pm #26312Nice progress & rear wheel sit nicely inside wheel arch.
April 20, 2018 at 1:55 pm #26310Can go single bf fan or cheap/neat vs v6 later version are slimmer…they work quite well & take up least amount of room,.

March 2, 2018 at 12:24 am #26069Makes me feel even lazier reading IJ thread yet I actually do more car stuff than workmates or friends lol
Holesaw on the reinforcement bar & under bonnet save much weight?
February 23, 2018 at 9:19 pm #26022All good got both early vh bulky & slimmer vs p/steer setups…want to go manual rack for lighter weight,extra exhaust clearance & most importantly sick of them leaking.
Bought vs 5 litre driveline dirt cheap yet still can’t find the parts I really want in Sydney.

February 12, 2018 at 5:00 pm #25916Wouldn’t say I enjoy wiring although do like end result mind hiding all wiring etc in engine bays & getting it all to work nicely.
They some pretty pistons…what cr you aiming for?
