Wow is it really over week since I checked in on this!! Mate, congratulations, absolutely first class. Sounds like all the areas you put the thought into to improve have paid off, again well-done buddy. Couldn’t agree with Cav more, smashed it out of the park, what an absolute weapon. At least something positive has come out of this suck bal…[Read more]

And we have bling. That’s all the windows fitted up and glazed. Once you get a bit of a method going not too hard just fiddly. But loving the look. Also had Cooper over earlier, plan is to give it to him in the new year for him to spend a few days doing some of the final body prep to make it easier for the painter. That will free up time and…[Read more]

Mine developed a bit of front end “funkiness” after maybe 500ks. Turned out I got all the suspension parts powder coated and with use, the powder coating settled and the bolts went loose. I think its part of builds like this to every now and then go and check everything is tight.

Yep as Mick says, but also if I did mine again I would plumb it into the water pump. That way it’s one less visible line. If you google it there’s info, seems pretty easy to do.

Getting too hot out there now, calling it a day.
That was the best fun I have had out there since doing the nose I reckon. Took a break from cut, weld, grind, repeat and decided first off to unpack all the windows from the UK, and see what is involved. Also unpacked their very nice rack and pinion conversion kit, looks really weld made.

Pfft, that’s just a bay window (a nice one though!!)
I love bits!! All our beautiful polished aluminium windows have arrived from the UK. So for those that don’t know too much about kombi’s, a bus like mine would have had all fixed windows expect the two rear sied windows which would have oped sideways outwards know as “pop-outs” The would ha…[Read more]

Shit this is a big job, glad I was so naive at the start or I wouldn’t have tackled it! Too far in to stop now
Last of the side reinforcements done. Took the day as I had to turn the bus around to weld up two small rust holes first, then back again and fabricated the top hat section. Tricky little sucker to get to fit right. But came…[Read more]

Been a while since a post on the wagon. Been driving it quite a bit lately.
So the Kombi is not that far off going for body/paint which will free up some workshop space and time. Plan on a couple of things for the VL at Christmas. The rear hatch really lets it down, its just riddled with rust. So I have scored a very good VH one, and with the…[Read more]
