Pretty happy with that given I’m a rank amateur. Just using what I have, which is a stuffed passenger side door what I need part of for that door, so cutting and shutting to get this done. Put my shrinker to good use and made up the curved part from scratch. Now I have the old skin off, tomorrow I will be able to attach it with a dolly and…[Read more]

Turns out a father of a guy we race know the guys who use to run Adelaide Carby Sales and Service but now works from his home. He will totally rebuild/refurbish mine for $330. Seems pretty good, I think I will start there, swapping a carby is a pretty quick and simple job.

I actually have this totally irrational hatred of Fords. I know they have made good cars, but growing up in Elizabeth when pretty much everyone’s Dad worked at Holden’s, you just become red. I will never own a Ford, as I say i know irrational, but…

No, I am not totally sure its the carby. Gawler Aotumtve is a couple of hundred metres up the road from me, and they are the ones that fixed the rocker issue on the Senator so I trust them. They also have a dyno, so I reckon that’s the go, give it to them and let them sort it.

Yea I am also leaning towards just staying carby, tbh I dont really want to mess around with it too much. I think I might just give it to the mechanic up the road and see what he come up with. I don’t think the auto choke is working properly, I did check the shafts and thought they were OK, but something isn’t right.

I really don’t want to go down the EFI swap route with this thing. I just want something dumb ass, cheap and simple that will do for now. Maybe I will give it to the mechanic up the road from me, he can give it the once over and let me know. In between karting, Kombi restos, and driving the Senator I don’t have a lot of spare time to mess around with it.

I do fully appreciate it’s so much “easier” to go the FI route, but the noise of 8 trumpets gulping in air at 6,000rpm on 454 cubes has its good points :) But the LSA is a very neat package also.

So 304 in the VL is 320,000kms, running fine but fuel economy is abysmal. Won’t start cold, unless I hit it with start ya bastard then it fires and runs fine. Has new leads, distributor cap, plugs etc.
The eventual plan one day is to pull it out and build a nice little 355 stroker, mild cam, nothing outrageous just a nice torquey tow car. Bu…[Read more]

I spoke to Matt and he said they aren’t adjustable. I am guessing you know this but they (system not straps) are made in different angles for open wheeler vs sedan etc. But yes they are long. He sent me this link to the Hans website where it says this in FAQ
