VR-VS Overflow Tanks Now available. Anyone in SA that’s interested let me know as we might be able to do a bulk buy deal. Got one coming in to look at so hopefully they are good quality Any Burson store can supply these. P/N DOT0036 Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk

my current coolant overflow was average looking so painted it black and just left a small section with a window to check the level.

i know that you cant buy them new anymore, was just thinking about this last week when i was refitting my Windscreen washer bottle into my VS, decided to give it a wipe down as it was dusty and put my thumb thru it because it was that brittle, lucky enough they still can be bought new from holdens which is what i did.

    PM sent nick

rather than start another thread, i’d thought i’d just ask here again

Would anyone know what thread are the inlet/outlet on a 1998 VS Series 3 v8 Transmission (aka a VT 5lt transmission —8HBD) i’m not sure if its NPT or NPSM or something else entirely

i need a fitting like i’ve listed below as i have noticed i kink in one of the lines that i bought, where one of the flare nuts attaches. Considering this was the only set i’ve found when i was looking for them. im just going to cut them back and run some flexible braided line on the last 150-200mm where they go into the transmission. which will probably make it easier to fit them too.

well still getting there slowly, been a slow month

managed to finish painting the brakes, and refitting them the last week or so, also fitted up new front rotors and pads at the same time.

Also fitted up another K frame that i had Cleaned up and re-powder coated, and replaced both tie rod ends, due to one being cross threaded while it was apart

next is to fit up a new transcooler which i picked up this week and refit all my Air Conditioner Lines

Funny how they weld one model, and bolt others, my manta ones were out of a very original manta, and they were bolted in, and by brackets were bare steel, they had a bit of surface rust on them when I had to pull them back out after a few months so I cleaned them up and painted them

i still can’t work out why a vs manta which is a base model HSV gets the VR senator rear seat setup

Does anyone else find the plastic tubes that fit in the bracket and hold the headrests up a real pain to remove when pulling the seats out, I made up a “tool” to remove them, using a slightly cut down silicone nozel tip

My VS Hsv Manta ones are bolted in with some m8 (possibly m10) bolts by memory, you can just see one in this photo, managed to make it bigger

defiantly put them in properly, i recon you will damage the rear foams otherwise

If yours is a genuine clubby it should have knock sensor wiring, all vt 5lts run knock sensors

Vt ss wiring and computer is a different setup, you would be better off using your vs wiring and computer and you will need to swap over your to vs dizzy as the vt type is different too

I Have a VT  Transmission so it has a Deeper Pan from Factory, but have just got a TCI Cast Alloy pan with fins from the US, which i got last week so that will go on before the car is started up.

i will take a photo of the one out my VS in the next day or two, to give yous an idea what im talking about, but its was the original one off my car, it is Made in Canada, and is LONG brand (something to do with DANA)

anyway when i went to the local wrecking yard (U Pull It) for all the Adelaide People, there were about 5 or 6 VS’s in there with these coolers, i noticed that VN-VR have different coolers as they have the front electric fan. Now i’ve never seen a VS V6 fitted with the front fan and my VS was a v6 when i bought it, so all the VS v6’s had a similar size cooler but the other type that seemed to be fitted to them is only about 20mm thick whereas mine is about 30mm

i’d like to mount additional coolers but i have all the factory Vacuum canister under the LH Guard, and under the RH Guard, underneath where the battery was located from factory, i have a VT Type Charcoal Canister Mounted

i haven’t had a look at it again this week, i got side tracked mounting my fuel reg instead, i’ll try and get back to it this weekend

The trans cooler I only just took off the car, ready for this rebuild and respray was only a stacked plate type and about 250×150, that was on the car all those years ago when I bought it the old bloke I bought it from use to tow a caravan with it.

No issues ever happened, just with everything else new or close to it I thought it replace it with a new one, and go a bit larger just in case

I still have the old trans cooler in the shed, I’ll see if it has a brand on it
