The first engine i had was from a vt calais, dipstick must be different to suit the different alternator. the one i have in this engine is like the one in the photo above, so thats ok i was worried it might be off an old holden v8- this confirms its a VN-VS era one.

as for the washer hose i removed the conduit that’s in the inside of the bay, as it doesn’t quite close anymore. no wiring this there anymore, its all been re routed through the guard so its just the 2 hoses thats left. the other one being the vacuum canister hose. i cant run mine on the inside of the guard as i have a majority of my ignition wiring running through there.

“You need to get rid of that thing and get something newer ?” My response – Why ? It was paid off years ago, owes me nothing, still looks OK, goes OK, sounds OK, its no less reliable than most other cars & insurance is not a lot. How does that compare to your expensive new car that is depreciating like buggery while costing a motza in monthly payments that has no charisma ?

    spot on

Fitted a heap of stuff the last few weeks, had the stock transmission pan modded to fit a drain plug in it and a 1/8  fitting for the Trans Temp Gauge.

Changed the rocker covers to another stock set i had without -8 fittings, fitted all the PCV lines, Purge Solenoid and remaining charcoal canister lines

    fitted both oil pressure switches

just fitted the radiator a few days ago- almost finished mounting the thermo fan on the radiator, Falcon one again instead of the clutch fan, but went with a Single FG one instead of the Twin AU ones it had before

Not heaps, basically just throttle body, radiator, a/c and power steering plus a few other little bits and pieces which ive probably forgotten about until its running. Probably could have it running in a day if I had everything I need. I dont think it will ever be finished, will always want to change or improve things

been saying that for years, mines almost finished i’m kinda glad it is too. Think i’ll leave it a while before i do anything else

Yeah love that when non car people say.. You always seem to be working on that thing surely it will be finished soon lol

    yeah i hate that too

I did have them out that night so will recheck when I get a chance. Its a level 3 cluster and just the screen which shows the k’s doesnt work properly, didnt actually turn the car on as such, just on accessories. Radiator hoses im good for, bought a new set a while ago.

no problem, did you swap the cluster to a v8 one?

also if you still have the v6 cluster you could pull the cluster apart and remove the LCD, and swap them over?

dont forget to flick the fuel tank switch on it to from 70lt to 80lt

when you tested the lights/ and central locking did you have all the dash switches in? ie hazard, a/c and demister?

is your dash cluster L2 or L3 whats wrong with it? i have a few L3 clusters in the shed that i use for parts, do you need a couple of top radiator hoses? got them left over from mine if you want them
