Cheeky buggers ay lol, yeah I agree cold air has to be an improvement over hot engine bay air

Yeah even so cava the dyno will pick up any improvements or problems, we have a similar situation with the airboxes we use at work, they’re not as restrictive as some airboxes but even though we use the biggest filter we can and the airboxes have a 4″ inlet and outlet the cars we use them in perform better with the airbox lid removed to get more…[Read more]

Sorry cava, but I’m pretty sure the dyno will tell you straight away if there’s any improvements or most importantly if there’s any restrictions or problems, because you can just pop the bonnet to see the difference between the cold air set up and open airboxes.
Surely it would have to make an improvement though especially if the airboxes you’ve…[Read more]

Hahaha I know exactly what you mean mate I just finished off doing pretty much the same job on my vg, yeah it handles and stops a whole lot better than it ever did and it’s better to drive but the v6 auto is a bit of a letdown lol

Hey atleast something good comes from all that mess, free fill is hard to come by. I like the idea with the stands under the trailer ramps though it’d save a bit of time cleaning up the shed every time

Ahh yeah that makes sense, from memory I think the speedo outputs are the same or the parts are compatible, my auto is fully manualized too, I plan on going to a fully manualized 4l80e for the overdrive later on down the track for the overdrive but the th400 will be plenty of fun till that happens

It’s coming along nicely mate, the engine looks mint too, funny you mentioned wanting to stick with the manual but deciding to go auto, I’m about to do the same thing to my ss, got a built th400 sitting there ready to go, I just need a higher stally and the tailshaft built to suit mechanically but I’m not sure what if anything I need to do…[Read more]

That’s the best idea I’ve seen so far, it keeps the car looking clean and tidy from the outside and you still have a good looking engine bay, I really hope you can make this work coz it’s a great idea, I mean who ever looks at the underside of the bonnet anyway, let alone if they’re looking at that engine bay

I agree it couldn’t be a bad thing to do, I was just wondering if anyone knew if there were any advantages in doing it, the best reason would have to be the fact it makes servicing the things so much easier as tuff said, otherwise you need to make spacers to stop them crushing when you press the bushes in and out

I’m not 100% sure if it was the original rear swaybar in my old 5l vn calais but it had a 20mm rear bar in it, I have a funny feeling I got one out of a vs wagon aswell, so surely there’ll be something at the wreckers
-
doz10 replied to the topic VR/VS FE2 Suspention in the forum Suspension 7 years, 9 months ago
That’s some pretty handy info you have there mate, I’m thinking the ss and ute front swaybars must be 26mm then, I didn’t actually measure them again was thinking it was 27mm for some reason
-
doz10 replied to the topic VR/VS FE2 Suspention in the forum Suspension 7 years, 9 months ago
I wouldn’t be too worried about changing your sway bars if I were you mate, if you do maybe just change the rear bar, I’m pretty sure the front sway bar that was in my vr ss was just a 27mm swaybar, which is the same size as what I just swapped out of my stocko vg v6 ute, if you find out what size rear swaybar the fe2 live axle commodores ran I’m…[Read more]

I’m pretty sure my ss sat a tiny bit higher and felt a bit smoother with the stock fe2 suspension than it did with the low king springs, it’s an irs rear though. It’s on koni adjustables and sl kings all round with whiteline swaybars and all new superpro bushes now, which helps it handle a lot better but it’s also a fair bit harsher than the stock…[Read more]

Does anyone know if there is any advantage to plating the front arms?
-
doz10 replied to the topic Low km 1991 VN Exec in the forum VN – VP – VR – VS 7 years, 9 months ago
Just about to do the same thing to my vg work ute did all the bushes in the rear a few months back and rebuilt and painted a spare pair of front arms ready to go, I didn’t modify them though, unlike the rears fully adjustable top and plated lower arms, can’t wait to get the front done though coz it’s starting to feel a little bit scary

Yeah I used to love the sound of my old calais with the v1 and twin 3″ system deep and menacing with a bit of a whistle to it, mean. It’s awesome seeing such good results from a w/m system especially if it’s not actually perfectly on song aswell
