Posts: 124Would look better buying 8.5 rears and using ur 245’s, then trying to run those rims wth the ass in the air.
AGREED. Get a set of 8.5 rears and run the same 245s over them, problem solved!!

LOL I think I had to read this sentence 5 times to understand it…
Well done mate, it looks like a huge undertaking with plenty of niggles, but something you should be really proud of. I can’t imagine a professional could do a much better job than that anyways

Posts: 124Na hardly stretched at all.
Then you’ve got some figures wrong… I’ve got 245s on an 8.5inch rim and they look just on flush, if not a little stretched. 245s on a 9.5 will definitely be stretched.
It looks awesome in the above pics, but realistically raising it will be your only real solution without needing some bodywork

Posts: 124Needs wastegate dumping to atmosphere!
Haha yes, but this car will be street legal here in NZ, and will need to have wastegate plumbed back to get certed.
Wait…. You mean to tell me in NZ you can legally register a rollcaged VK with a turbo LSX in it???
WTF i’m moving as of right now… Australia officially sucks in this department….

Posts: 124F1 is a must to see live and also sub 6 second drag cars are also a must to see live NHRA would be absolutly awesome to see live
Western Sydney Raceway and Willowbank in QLD have the Nitro Champ Race meets and assorted season events, my Dad and I have frequently seen mid to low 4 second passes there from the few top fuelers we have in Aus. Doorslammers are frequenting high fives now too, they’re awesome to watch :D
I highly recommend going, especially western sydney as you can walk around the pits for free and actually watch the mechanics take apart and rebuild the top fuel engines. It’s an awesome experience

Posts: 124If I can offer you any advice, stay the fuck away from vs HSV’s or any commodore older than VZ with more than 100,000kms
WTH???
I sold my 2004 VZ sv6 with 270,000 kays on it, and other than a tailshaft donut and a clutch, nothing ever needed replacing?? It was bulletproof as long as you serviced it regularly.
I reckon I went through one set of spark plugs, and that was about it… even the manual gearbox was good, interior was looked after, and the seals etc were fine. I still miss that car…..

Posts: 124do most people here understand the relationship between HP and torque?
torque x RPM at given moment = HP (in very relative terms)
Torque at low RPM will give you lots of low down power and driveability, torque at high RPM will give you an awesome peak dyno figure.
It was explained to me like this: (this doesn’t take into account drivetrain and other factors)
if at 2000RPM you are making 200nm of torque, your power output will be X
if at 4000RPM you are making 200nm of torque, your power output will be 2X
simples, right?….

Posts: 124Really a VR is over 20 years old now, so without major surgery its never going to be up to the latest cars, but then to me the rawness of them is part of the appeal.
AGREED ^
There’s a lot more character in a “raw” old car than in a new one. My 2014 holden cruze is way more civilized, comfortable, quiet, economical, and refined as the 02 monaro (and that’s only 12 yrs difference…). It craps all over the old girl in build quality and comfort.
But nobody cares about the guy who tamed his pet maltese puppy. We want to see the guy who wrestles his pet lion daily and gets away with it
