Posts: 124That manifold just isn’t complete till it has a direct injection system on it hopefully can do direct injection wet kits as that would make it easy with next to no tuning needed just need to pull out 6 or so degrees timing with 150hp or 4 degrees with 100hp dont just hit nos or it might ping with what ever timing it’s running now
How would you go about pulling timing only when the button/solenoid is pressed? Does the std ECU have the ability to do that?

Posts: 124Whilst Morally wrong, is this technically against the law?
The car passed the test, so VW could argue that they’ve implemented the emissions systems to work only under certain circumstances to “protect the engine” or something. Techinically, the car passed the emissions test.
I’d also imagine that their awesome fuel consumption figures would have something to do with their bypassing the emissions equipment.
Whilst I certainly don’t agree with VW’s approach, it really brings to light the holes in the current emissions testing scheme, and hopefully means that they’ll develop a more fool-proof test.

Posts: 124Wow that Reid housing looks schmick
Really glad to see you’re so close to having it finished (at least in terms of having it reliable drive-it-as-much-as-you-want-whenever -you-want).
But part of me still keeps thinking: “what if… T56 Magnum…”
Hope all goes well with the install

Posts: 124^ trouble is this beast is making north of 800hp, how do you notice the difference between say 800 or 850hp except on a dyno or drag strip…
THIS^^^
800 or 850 doesn’t really matter, putting it down to the ground is still going to be a struggle.
But then again, you only have enough horsepower if you’re scared to use it all

Posts: 124WOW, what a thorough job!! The fab work is top notch
+1 for Dynamatting the whole thing, it’s probably at least 50kg of weight (depending on how thorough…) but it will make the car so much better to drive.
Kudos for doing this properly :)

Posts: 124Wow. I didn’t even know these existed??
Very interesting to read though, their warranty claims are quite impressive (though I’d love to hear a few claim examples). But on the whole, the design is very clever. I was under the impression that a TruTrac would still power both wheels even when one had zero load???
Something else I found interesting:
“use the gear oil spec that your car manufacturer recommends for your car. The Wavetrac® is compatible with virtually all factory-installed gear oils used today”
“There is no additional maintenance required when using the WAVETRAC differential. You can simply install it and “forget” it!”
So you can use just about any oil in the diff (minus some exceptions on their website), and you’ll never have to do any maintenance on the wavetrac??? That’s a big bonus there

Posts: 124from that photo it looks like pretty much everything you need will still be in good nick? Except maybe that front right rim.
Otherwise that’s a steal, look forward to seeing progress from this.

This sounds really good, a massive job considering the wiring, computers and dashboard cluster etc all have to be transplanted.
I’ll be watching this one closely
Out of interest, why was the R8 written off??

Wheels and taillights i’m a little unsure of but I still wish mine had as many goodies as yours
Do you have a rwkw figure? And is it nice to drive on 20’s with coilovers?
(why didn’t I get a photo like that on my wedding day…)

Posts: 124I’m pretty happy with the power figure, I wanted 500kw or 700hp. But I believe the block is holding it back. So I told Indar to leave it how it is now to be safe.what can you safely run through an aluminium block? Weren’t HPF and the like getting 1000 RWHP on an aluminium block before it broke? (correct me if i’m wrong)- This reply was modified 9 years, 6 months ago by Dan811.
