So my tuff mount xmember rocked up today and I went and purchased my rubber trans mount. All up $180. So not too shabby.

Hopefully get my extension housing tomorrow then I can boot in box and box the tubs.

Also finaihed drilling the holes for the shifter. 5mm stainless is a PITA.

But it’s done and bolted in. Just needs wiring and cable setup. But it’s 80% done. The hard part at least.

Not sure if you watch the Sloppy Mechanics channel, but Matt is running a dead stock 4L80e with a Transgo shift kit the only mod with 1075rwhp. He claims to have never used anything other than stock OEM high km trans with a shift kit on any of his builds (multiple turbo LS combos over 700rwhp).

nah I haven’t but fuck me that’s mint

Isn’t the 4L80e basically the electronic over-driven version of the T400?

yeah pretty much what I can tell so far. Wonder if it suffers the same issues with as the t700 and the 4l60e where they destroy 4th when it engages at WOT?????

I doubt it. As said elsewhere, the 400 was used in all the heavy stuff and should be tough as nails. Standard sedan type vehicles got the 350 which is fairly good too but not enough for your blown donk. Talk to HQ368 on the AV8 forum. He knows his transmissions.

i have been. I try limit how much I ask and bust his chops. He will most likely build my box.

Doing some light reading. You can get then built minus the electronics. With manual valvebodies etc.

    interesting…..

Nah I’m not it one for electronics personally. I like old school when it comes to that sort of stuff.

So I’ve never really looked into them. Is that what you run Ian?

No turbo here. Just a blower.

I dont need anymore headaches then I already have with these headers lol. Thus why I’m leaving it to the fabricator now.

Ive told him do as you need to make them work.

Finally got some time to turn a spanner today on the car.

Got most of the shifter install nutted. This is what it will look like granted it will have a nicer leather boot.

I’ve also picked up a t400 case as I’m no longer going with the glide. I’m waiting on an extension housing as the case didn’t come with one. My tuff mounts XMember is also on the way. Once it all here, I’ll mount the motor and box correctly and send it away to get the tubs, headers and a few other “mods” done.

Could I entice you with the possibility of selling you some CAE ENGINE mounts?

Im considering changing to Tuff Mounts due to the xmember I purchased.

I brought a $200 press to do the job. Worked well. I also got some bushes as 2 piece so didn’t need to remove the kframe etc to press it in.

That link is just the front end.

Get front and rear bush kit from AutoOne. I used all whiteline gear and done it all my self. It’s very simple to do mate. Front and rear cost me $510  inc new sway bars etc

Can after engineering like said. But don’t just get the biggest angriest one.

In regards to the cam. Bigger isn’t always best mate.

Maybe just go the cheapest route, its no big deal if after its all built its not quite up to the task and you need to save up and swap the radiator over, its not like you are modifying anything to fit. What I mean is its not like it won’t work at all, worse case on hot days, during burnouts or whatever the temp creeps up.

That’s an idea. I’ll do some hunting around to see if i can get a second hand one, if not I’ll get a new one. If it doesnt work, I’m sure I’d be able to sell it. On a side note, the motor has arrived Spoke to Paul at Paul Rogers to order the box and converter. He’s sending me a spec sheet for the converter so they can make it to suit my application. Gonna go for a fairly large cam, something like a Turbo Killer from GMM or a VCM 13, up around the 23x 24x range so it’s nice and grumpy and goes like a scalded cat
