Posts: 39Just a quick word on soda blasting – and I am certainly no expert. I have an old holden I need to have stripped, and a couple of professional painters have said that after soda blasting cars, the owners have had their fresh paint lift off the metal a year or 2 later. They recommended I use some other media to strip the car.

Posts: 39Depends on whether its a road or race car. I’ve found in road cars you generally do push the clutch pedal harder. Race or high performance cars (eg road registered race cars like Lambo’s etc) are set up more for performance driving.
Edit actually after rewatching the vid, he does seem to mash that pedal lol

Posts: 39I find that same issue but in any car, when I ‘heel n toe’ you actually need to mainly use your big toe and kick your heel nearly 45 degrees and use the side of your foot to blip the throttle. I took my cars out to deserted back roads and practiced til it hurt before I got the hang of it.

Posts: 39Yep that article is spot on, but I was pretty sure you would have had an lsd in yours for track work!! Most road cars are set up from the factory with slight understeer as it is deemed to be safer for the average driver.
EDIT Not saying you are an average driver lol. Thought I better clarify that hehehehe

Posts: 39First of all, beautiful car and great vids. Definitely picked up a lot of time with tyre and brake upgrades. I did notice you mentioned you wanted to fit a bigger front stabiliser bar to combat understeer? That mod will actually make the car understeer more. As odd as it may sound, stiffening up the rear will get the car to turn in better but dont over do it or you’ll end up with a tyre shredding oversteer monster lol.

Posts: 39Waking up and knowing I never have to go back to my old job again!!!!! And looking forward to finally getting my ticket as a qualified mechanic. I believe I may have the record for the longest apprenticeship in history. Started in 1988 and should be qualified sometime in 2017 lol!!!
How does that work? hahaha
Ive stopped and started a lot of times in my life lol. Effectively I’m qualified but I have to do 1 more year at TAFE and then 1 year on the job to be signed off.

Posts: 39Goodridge used to be good for evos and rexes, not sure if they make holden stuff. Been a few years since I used them but price was good, as was quality.

Posts: 39And to think we old folks used to use actual maths to calculate this stuff hehehe. Good site Gary, have used a couple of these when I did an engine building course.
