I am running a Canton circuit racing sump, so its a lot different to a standard one. The only reason I got it was I looked at all the dimensions and it seemed it would fit without modifying the k frame, umm, yea nah….

Agree with Cav, and I am a little sad too. I am not surprised at all you are a little sentimental, as it’s not the lump of metal its the memories of what you did with it.
Look forward to the Eurotrash build, well, as a BM owner kinda know that’s not exactly true… Onwards and upwards!!

One door closes. Another opens.
Bigger and better. I mean. Smaller and better.

Cant remember, are you planning on modifying the K frame, the sump, or seeing it doesn’t need it? In my case I modified the K frame, but if I did it again I would have taken the corners off the back off the sump and had them tig welded up so the K Frame stays original. I know with Cavs he has clearance but every other time I have seen s…[Read more]

What is the starting weight with this, and what do you think you have removed so far?

Yea I have regular power steering, actually with both the Pacemakers and the 4 into 1’s I have room. As you say its tight, but it is everywhere. With mine, I spent a while with the engine mounts loose as, with the engine supported by a block of wood under the sump on a jack, and took the time to move it around a little to get the best position b…[Read more]

Thanks for the tip, when I did the distributor cap it’s certainly a large diameter, I imagine getting to the bolt would be difficult at best. Will get one, cheers.

Given this is a tow car thread…
In the kart trailer, I have just set up a 15L air tank and plumbed an air regulator outlet with a moisture trap for tyre duties. And I use a 12V compressor to keep it topped up, also am fitting a small 12 V panel with USB port, cigarette lighter port, and a voltage read out, to keep phones, etc charged.

Yep thought the same, it’s running so nicely I am reluctant to mess with it too much. I don’t want to kill it with kindness.

That’s very kind of you IJ, happy to pick up the cost of postage just let me know.
It runs even smoother now since I changed the plugs and leads. Next is an oil/filter change. I also bought a new timing light (ahh the memories) as I thought it would come in handy with the MG and Kombi.
I had a quick look, looks like it may be a little a…[Read more]

Mate, I would love too, if the finances permitted… But just glad to start to be getting all the cars drivable.
I can’t remember if I have said on here before, but my family is into restoring cars and have a long (sad) history of never fully finishing any of them. I alw…[Read more]

I gathered you must have been occupied given no posts. Well, I for one am sad to the old Lexcen go, but also excited to see what the mechanical package will be like in a smaller/lighter shell. I also really enjoy watching your custom solutions, as I am sure it’s not going to be just drop it in the new shell and go… Good luck with the event ma…[Read more]

These have apparently become popular in the vintage car scene, but can’t see it being legal for road use though, I would have thought an engineer is going to balk at signing off a modified steering column? The electrically driven pump one though I have seen a bit but using an Astra pump. At least then you can mount the pump anywhere, like up un…[Read more]
