Posts: 206The steering knuckle fouls the pipes something fierce.
FYI if you are doing one of these conversions use a v8 kframe with tuff mounts.
The rb30 kframe with tuff mounts sit a whole inch lower [which really isnt a bad thing for the vl] and therefore fouls the pipes.
So sent the car off to Steve Loaders street n strip kustom exhaust & fabrication for the modification and hang the exhaust.
They turned it around in a day! Absolutely stoked!

Moment of truth is finally here.
The first start up of the new combo. Absolutely over the moon, literally shed a few tears of happiness as you can see in the vid. Happy days!

Posts: 206Is that black? It looks grey in that pic. Looks good though.
All stone guard dries a matte black finish and has a frost white hue to it. nature of the beast unfortunately.
You can always throw gmh black over the top when its somewhat dry as you are able to paint over it.

Posts: 206Looks very neat, any plans to paint underneath black?
Negative, not a fan of stone guard. I’d paint it the correct factory undercoat if and when i eventually repaint the car.

I was going to suggest the same thing sands but wasn’t sure as its a preference thing. On mine I just used that spray can texture coat, easy as anything to apply and made it look schmick as, easy to touch up too. But then no one actually really sees the underside.
I used this stuff, seriously its epic. So easy to spray on, and it makes it look really nice, hides a lot of the imperfections etc. I am guessing maybe I used two cans under the car.
I’m a brand snob, so Teroson water based stone guard would be my preference if i was ever able to do it [we use it on insurance jobs at work replicating the factory chip on sills] it is awesome stone guard.
I’m not a fan personally. being a painter, i like paint. so if i were to do underneath the car one day it’ll be the factory primer & white overspray or just white. will worry about it once i have taken the car out and enjoyed it haha.
Also, congrats on the Yankee site putting up a photo of your bay. Thats sick!

It is braid in the bay to bulk head, then hardline from the bulkhead to the back of the back doors, braid over the diff then into another bulk head then into hardline into the cell.

Posts: 206Hey mate, how much room do you have left under the rear? Im trying to do the same but I have 15×9 with a 3 inch backspace. I’d like to get away with not tubbing the car as well. Love the car too, when I was buying mine I wanted white but was too impatient! Cheers Justin
Hey Juzzie,
It isn’t uncommon to be able to fit a 275 under the bum [not x275], without tubbing.
You will lose the qtr lip straight up to fit it, plus the car will have to be jacked up a bit more than mine.
Check out the D’Annello Performance Vl’s, they have a few running that setup.
I will admit it is tight but haha
You run out of room very quick in these conversions man, My reg is in the middle of my vic jr manifold. talk about fancy haha
You got that in one, drop the bare engine in and you think its not too bad, then nek minnit…
haha, too true!
Good to see you having a steer of the old girl the other day as well!

Posts: 206Looks wickid mate. Any more photos of how lines a run?
Next time I’m there i’ll take a few more photos.
Saw you also purchased a radiator from south coast radiators. Same place I’ll get mine done. I only live up the road as well. They seem to be doing a lot of high profile burnout cars these days. So must be alright.
Oh, you saw that? haha.
Nothing beats a good quality brass radiator. I’m really not a fan of the alloy radiators.
I actually received it today. Its damn heavy haha, but build quality is second to none. Literally. Speak to Rick there and he will sort you out!
Interesting way to do it..looking at heaps of cars trying to decide how I want trans & fuel lines hidden. Fuel lines to passenger side? Trans line up bellhousing then through inner guard under boster to front of car? No room between steering/extractors?
It was the neatest way to do it man. Things are very tight in these conversions around the steering knuckle.
My fuel lines are on the passenger side in the bay. I brought mine down the drivers side chassis rail, then across the car near the back of the gearbox that’s all in hard line. Then up over the trans tunnel the the passenger side, I did that in braid as it was easier with the tans in the car. Then the reg and return are on the passenger side in the bay as there was way more room.
