Well, they sort of plugin. But you have to mount a potentiometer that gets actuated by the shift lever so its brain can work out what gear you are in. They give you a heap of brackets and its suits most gearboxes. But of course not a Powerglide into a VR… So in my case, I had to get funky and mount my own and make my own lever. Not hard…[Read more]

They look bloody neat mate!! I actually have a smallish split air con, its only a cheapie, but its right over the main workbench. Doesn’t go anywhere near cooling the whole shed but on those hot days working at the bench it’s enough to make it bearable…

Woo hoo, anyone into VL’s (like I am becoming) will know that he front window lacings are rare to find as they are VL specific. And to find one in mint condition is as hard to find as rocking horse shit. But I scored one!! Have to say got onto a guy called Steve from Vintage Commodores, top bloke to deal with, actually understands the term “g…[Read more]

Excellent, thanks for that, I just havent refitted the wiper cover, but the under bonnet liner was wrecked, so would be sweet to fit a new one, cheers for that.
Slight snag, apparently I need the “windscreen lacing” which tbh I had no idea off. Trying to see if its available or if i have to try and find some good second hand.

Thanks for that, I had read about that but sort of trying to keep as much as I can to the “keep it factory” theme.
I agree too, I was speaking to the previous owner on FB, and I said while its far from perfect its a survivor, and it is so honest it deserves a second chance. If I can get it useful, reliable and a bit of fun I will be…[Read more]

Not a bad idea now that I understand you, will do, thanks.
Btw, does anyone know how I can test the instrument cluster, when I got it the fuel/temp/oil pressure gauges aren’t working, I just thought whilst I have it all apart I might as well test the instrument cluster on the bench, before going looking at senders etc.
Is it 12V to pin 3, earth…[Read more]

I didn’t have to touch the lip that the screen sits in all the way around so a bit lucky there. I just rust converted it. But also the good thing about the VL is there is a trim piece that covers it anyway.

Had a go over the last couple of days, made up a neat little patch assy out of two parts, came up a treat. Unfortunately didn’t take a pic before fitting it. But all done now, repaired in steel, I dod hit it with the lightest skim coat of filler just to smooth it all out. So have hit it all with etch primer, and a nice final sand tomorrow th…[Read more]

Super happy with how the plenum turned out. Also spent ages getting the gaps perfect on the cowl panel, its all welded in too and looking good. Now just have to think about how I fix the corner rust spots, I don’t want it show quality, just good enough to hold some filler, its under a plastic trim piece anyway.

Looks nice, we used to call that sort of set up a Turks Head. When I was thinking of copying that design I posted IJ, I was thinking it wouldn’t be hard to have spacers to take it out to another size? It would be pretty easy to make on the printer too, as its just 4 parts repeated. But as I sadi for $105, you wouldnt bother unless you had yo…[Read more]

Tbh I cant remember the grade stainless, pretty sure it was just regular Aeroflow or similar. I would make a straightener like this, but tbh for $105 just buy one.

I did mine in stainless, looks scmick as, little harder to work. If I did it again I would probably have borrowed or made a tube straightener. Now I have a 3D printer i prob would have made one.
