Posts: 227yeah true but i’ve got it now… anyways… went for a cruise up to Mt Glorious in Brisbane and it handles great. road was a little wet, tail slid a bit so couldn’t go too hard… got a track day mid oct, so that’ll be the test.

Posts: 227so got the rear rotors upgraded, and got the whiteline swaybars all round… see my build thread in my sig for more details… will got for a cruise now and see how it goes. There’s four settings on the front swaybar, and I’m on 3rd hardest, so still got one more if needed.
GARY – you can get the rear swaybar out without dropping the IRS frame, but the mechanic says it’s bit of a b*tch.

Posts: 227so turns out can’t get vented rotors to fit in stock solid caliper, but I got DBA T2 slotted rotor on the rear now… (215i had vented but diff caliper than 185i).

Posts: 227Well atleast he was right about not being able to get adjustable rear swaybar for rear… only for standard diff, not IRS.

Posts: 227picked the car up from the mechanic and he said he pulled off all the brake hoses and check em. he said one looked like it may have been leaking a bit. he didn’t say which one and I was in bit of a rush, but hopefully this is the actually issues.

Posts: 227So disappointingly it happened.. ticked over 200,000km. disappointed as I wanted to do it at the track!!
Right so took the car in to get better rotors on the rear.. turns out you can’t get the DBA t3 for VS IRS so mechanic got T2 slotted. I thought this would be great but after getting it home, they are still solid rotors, not vented. I mentioned to the mechanic multiple times that I wanted vented and he didn’t mention anything, so surprised not to get a call. Let’s hope they worked alot better than OEM replacements I had…
Also, asked for whiteline adjustable swaybars front and back. got the swaybars but when I asked what the rear was set on got told that they don’t do adjustable for the rear… hmmm would have been good to get a call about that too!

Posts: 227I’ve been practicing a bit and starting to get it. Highway off ramps seem to be the best place to practice in day to day driving. Had the car at the shop so asked the mechanic to bend the pedal across. Well he got in the car and just bent it across… well if I knew it was going to be that easy… this was s’arvo so havn’t taken it for a cruise yet.

Posts: 227I do remember you mentioning it before in my old “VS Brake Upgrades” thread, will keep it in mind… Next event i’m going to a Paul Stokell track training day, so hoping to get some tips on car upgrade roadmap… need to get a few more track days under my belt before I start messing with things too much. I’m sure it’ll take a while just to find the settings for the swaybars I like best.

Posts: 227yep, the blade ones. unsure if you need to drop the sub frame. mechanic made it sound easy, will let you know.
also ditching the solid rear rotors for DBA T2 vented slotted rotors… i’m sure they’ll work greart when compared to the solids… http://www.dba.com.au/products/street-performance/t2-slot/
considering oil catch can (but the motor is 200,000km old already) and a surge tank (stutters on track when gets below 1/3 of tank).

Posts: 227so car was at the shop today. mechanic said the booster was dry and no signs of internal leakage. he did a check over and said that he couldn’t find any leaks. he reckons it’s the pistons wearing in… I have not checked how much i have worn the pads.. I never touched the fluid before, but I do have twin piston and VT master now… !?!?
Did two sunshine coast trips and gold coast trip from bris and it was down a quarter…. highway driving too…

Posts: 227a mate of a mate, who i’m trying to get on here, has VS manta race car and he says, in regards to swaybars…
No sway on the rear and a 32 mm one up front with a tower brace….. VF GTS can’t keep up with it around Sandown so it suprised a few!…… yes it’s street registered and I drive it on the street. Which is interesting with a full spool diff out of a vx and a brass button clutch.”
surely no rear sway bar would make the rear hang out like a drift car…- This reply was modified 9 years, 2 months ago by SSEN8R VS #1081.
