Thats worked out well. Interesting to see the difference between the front weights. Where does the extra 80kg come from on the left hand side? Will work to your advantage with just a driver in the car :)

    Looking good.

Dont leave your  freshly painted parts covered with the tarp for too long though though, they will sweat and may cause solvent issues  :nice:

Nice work on the floor Gary, looks like factory! Its good when you get a big piece knocked out and feel like you’ve actually got somewhere! Im unfortunately not at that stage with my ute atm  :-(

Im a bit late to the party but great thread Cava. Ive just read it from start to finish over the last couple of days. Love the clean and simple styling.

Do you know the bore size of the VZ master cylinder and if theres any advantage over a VT booster/master combo? On my VN I run VT booster/master with VE front calipers and 330mm discs, and was planning on the same for my VG ute. I actually already have a VZ booster/master but didnt think it would work just splitting the front line out the one port. My VN set up works pretty good, but the fronts can lock up a little too easily.

    Cheers Gary,

I have followed your build for a long time, I think from back in the street commodores forum days, and then facebook which is how i found this forum.

Street commodores forum was a godsend back in the day once you sorted through all the bullshit and school kids, was a lot of good info I used when building my VN. Seems like a good crew here now too, I recognise a few of the user names.

    Cheers for the replies guys,

I chatted to a guy who does a lot of conversions here in perth and he says it will go in without too much trouble.

Al from kalmaker actually has the same L98 and 6l80e combo in his own VS ute apparently so Im planning to pick up a motor and trans next week and go with that combo.

The car will have to be engineered, as its going to be a full build and is currently an unlicenced rolling shell. It will be a daily driver too so will be doing everything properly. Still just in the planning stage atm and collecting parts but will keep you all informed of the progress and issues as they arise.

    Hey guys,

Just planning a new build and am currently looking at fitting a L98 and 6L80e into a VG ute. Any further info on how the box goes as far as clearance in the VN-VS tunnel?

    Cheers, Ace
