Here is a pointless mod of mine that cav  over as doesnt make car faster. Lol ended up not using it, was a grp A air intake that some peanut cut up and made it side mount for traditional set up so i made it look stockish again.

so cut back off n fiberglassed a 100mm pipe in

simply did that to locate it then cut it to start to make the funnel part

sandpaper held its shape well and perfect to lay the glass over lol

    i can hear u laughing

then bogged it etc to get it looking close to stock

lol the slight sand paper logos stuck to resin

Maybe this helps you understand, i am not all about 9 second quarter miles……just like fideling with pointless shit

Actually yea u are right it would use 3 and d would just get skipped, as yes d on the 4 speed is the over drive gear.

Honestly this is such an easy thing to do dont know who other than vrsenator has done it but i think this will be a very common mod, its literally an hour of fabricating when it comes to the led install etc. Yes as cav has pointed out why bother with b&m shifter, i always hated the look of stock shifter and i like playing with shit, not engines, i suck at that!

I like pointless shit that involves fabricating etc :music:

So set up the leds, work mint, realised i grabbed some 24v ones, still worked mint. Anyway want to move them over just a bit as a bit to the right so you can see the led brighter to right side of window. (Bit anal i know)

Even if i go three speed will kepp this setup as third simply will not light up will go 2 straight to D

Just did this up quickly, something like this. Just a thought. Btw sorry about the thread hijack!!

:grr: :grr:   :grr:   :grr:   :grr:   :grr:   :grr:  How does f&&ck you sound i just finished fabbing my one up lol When i was doing it i thought of you (non sexual) as though how easy it would be as such a simple thing as simplu cut the bottom out of facia and this would drop straight in.

I am on a few forums and this method is getting a lot of thumbs up people would definitely pay 30 bucks plus the dekota to have a mint fully legal looking b&m. Once my one is finished ill post pics on a few fb pages and no doubt will get a lot of curiosity as apart from u guys who else has done it. I always wanted to u and once i seen yours i pretty much ordered the stuff the next day

Top effort. looking forward to seeing it finished. Do you have the part number of the 4l60e bracket you ended up using?

BM70599 is the part number you can see the bracket sticks out further than the standard gm bracket

So got the correct late model 4l60e bracket, was getting all the gears except wasn’t grabbing neutral from D properly. In pic you can see the dekota mounted on top of bracket, has an arm on side of the box with a linkage back to the dekota unit, took literally minutes to set up.

After hours of playing around looked closely at the shifter its self and noticed the reverse lock out was stopping it clicking into neutral properly. So two minutes with the grinder and its all fixed.

So started on the LED display for shift positions, cut the bottom out of the original shifter display shroud. Cut up some alloy and drilled holes in it to house the LED’s that will be my shift positions running off the dekota unit.

I then mounted it into the original position. The LEDS should sit just below the little shift position windows. May have to put little dividers in to stop the LEDS lighting up every window instead of the 1,2,3,D,N,R,P individually.

Now just have to adjust the black slider that goes around the original shifter so that it fits around the B&M shifter, also need to wire up LEDS

VS SS stock 4l60E with 4000 stall… tube and fin cooler in line and bigger cooler at front and its still alive with 220kw atw. Never gave me problems but I didn’t care either so I’m not saying leave it but I have done a few thousand kays I guess and it still shifts through N fine.

Yea i tend to agree as obviously important all drive gears grab right. U dont really use neutral except for sliding through into R and P.

So if cant figure it out ill just deal with it, been off road long enough now

But you were not worried about burning between neutral and drive? As going through into reverse?

Although i guess whenever you are going D to R, or any gear to Park you are at complete stop so probably not going to burn anything, wouldnt think its great not been clicked in properly. What box was it?

So got it all in and just will not adjust correctly, dakota is all calibrated and working perfectly, made a custom bracket etc. So got the guru around to slide it through the gears whilst i played with adjuster…….more googling. Guru spun the gear selector leaver around backwards and got it working 99%. Then i noticed that with 4l60e bracket cable doesn’t run in line with box.  Can see in pic if its hooked to selector cable will be on angle

But its the 4l60e bracket, then ebay b&m 4l60 e bracket and different bracket came up. It is a bracket for 4l60e that has the prdn switch on it. Guru explained that switch goes over the shifter on side of box they were in vts etc.

I dive under ute, my ute is a vs 98 model!!!

Has a vt box in it minus the switch…..wrong bracket fml can i have 3hours of my life back

So running cable was a pain in the ass to get it to sit nice but got there in the end. Ran into a few problems with set up as the dakota unit has to mount to same pan bolts as the cable bracket, so have decided to mount dakota unit at back of pan and make a longer connecting rod, as its simply a lever that is moved like a slave from the gear box leaver, u then program the brain of it, simple.

Had an issue with setting up cable for first gear. U set shifter in first gear and gear selector infirst gear and adjust cable to this point. Then unhook and put gearbox and shifter in park positions, holes now no longer lined up were out by 5mm. If u drove like this would kill box. Started double checking everything that was all 4l60e compatible brackets etc

Did some googling and came across few yanky guys with same problems. Was quite simple, i had mounted cable bracket to wrong side of shifter housing, thus changing cable length by 5mm meaning when set up for first gear would be out 5mm for park. Swapped around and its perfect set up. When in park or first pin slips out of hole easily so this means its properly adjusted.

The instructions are pain in the ass the blown up images are not very clear and the step by step jumps around a bit, but got there in the end!

Tomorrow ill make new dakota bracket etc set it up then to start doing led installation for gear selector lights
