I cant see u having any issues mate.

    me either.

On another note Cav, who do you recommend for torque converters?

I will need one made shortly. Probably around 4k stall.

I previously had a bf setup but now that i have made the radiator surround it wouldn’t fit. I have tested both and they both pull very similar. I will just see how they go.

For me i wanted a clean look in the engine bay.

To be honest most people say the pedal feel is a bit harder. But i will be upgrading the front brakes to the wilwood 4 piston set up so it should work well once thats done.

Did you have twin mondeo fans? These run 3000 cfm supposedly.

I had some smaller twin 10 inch thermos before and they just couldnt keep it cool. Plus i also had a blocked ac condenser in front of the radiator.

Yeah i have an fg thermo but just didnt suit the clean look i wanted. Plus the fan would have sat above the radiator surround. Trust me i tried to make it work but to much hassle.

The shroud was my first attempt at mig welding and fab work. Once its powder coated should look nice and clean.

Finally have it ready for paint. The problem once i go down this road i keep coming up with extra things to do. Should be off to paint next week, then i will finish getting the motor all finished up and sitting in the powder coated sub frame.

Also finished off my custom thermo fan shroud. I adapted twin ford mondeo thermos. It is blows some serious air.

I like that mate. How u join them inside?

I will be just using heater hose and double the clamps up just to make sure its sealed.

ahh ok I was considering using Veiga and doing it in braid.

yeah looked at that in the end thought if i have to tak it in and out ill just flare the ends and clamp it.

I went to run the heater hose lines and thought they looked bloody ugly and ran everywhere, plus it doesn’t help when the copper lines that come through the firewall are facing a different direction then what i needed.

So i decided to cut them back in the cabin and make up my own copper lines that i can then run behind the manifold. Which will look a lot neater once they either covered in braid or coated black. It also makes it easy with hoses as all i need is straight hose now or i can use braided.

Haha I had a love/hate relationship with it over the last couple of weeks. Got the box from Paul Rogers Performance Transmissions in VIC. It’s a TH400, full manual and rated to 1000-1100 hp. Got the converter through him as well, Dominator with 4k stall

Just spoke with Paul really nice guy and full of knowledge. Thanks for letting me know.

Bloody nice progress. I think all of us have some Macgyver in us lol.

Where did you get your gearbox from and what type of box are you running?

Looking good mate some serious progress!

Cheers James, definitely alot more work than i wanted to do but when i start i cant stop making everything as neat as i can.

Its all the little things fittings wiring etc that take the longest.

Who did the engine? Are the heads out of the box or ported? Cam?!

I used a local builder in Canberra. Belconnen Engines. The heads are out of the box edelbrocks, we just upgraded the springs thats it.

    The cam specs are below.

I got a bit bored this afternoon and started test fitting bits and pieces, made up some breather lines just need to shorten 1. Onto the wiring this week just to check it all works. Then time for some wet n dry.

I like how u done the latch. I believe I’ll be stealing that idea hahah

Go for it Cav. All i did was shorten the original cable and modified the leaver. It works great and its hidden away.

Had a busy day finished making the brackets to hold the radiator in so its nice and clean.

Also relocated the bonnet release cable so it’s no longer in the bay and in easy reach under the front bar.

I also fitted the motor with the extractors to make sure everything was all good. Lucky i did because i had to massage the extractors because of the head studs on the new motor, all good now and made sure the wilwood setup is good to go.

I will be finishing off test fitting everything this week and make sure all the wiring is neat and as hidden as i can get it. Then its time to pull it all out and get some colour in there.

This thing mini-tubbed? Engine bay is looking good, keep at it. Liking those lowe fab alternator bracket that hides it down on drivers side…bloke on torrie site did similar modding sss/atracing chev bracket $40(for long nose sbc w/pump I think)

Sorry mate accidently reported your post.

Its not tubbed but its on the list one day.

Had thought about relocating the alternator but can’t be bothered.

Would it be as affective on other side of rad tho? As draws air through the radiator may not work as well as cant seal it off properly like you can from other side? Looks good, doesnt boxing rails like that cause issues with engineering etc? What kind of power you chasing?

Yeah i think i will stick with a custom version of a FG falcon thermo i had on it before. Pulled plenty of air.

not really worried about the boxed rails. In Act once a car is regoed you dont need an inspection. I understand some people say it changes the crumple zone. Not to worried TBH.

As for power havent even thought about it just wanted enough to get up and go so im sure a 383 will be plenty lol, also getting a manual reverse pattern box built for it soon.

I’ve seen these photos on FB. Can put a name to a user name now lol looking really good mate. I like that radiator cover. How do you mount the radiator tho?

Yeah it was easier to post on FB so just did that for a while.

The radiator sits in place with the bottom pins and the side pins butt up against a small block inside the surround, then a plate gets screwed into that block. Cant be seen unless you stick your head right in there.

I am thinking of mounting the thermos in front of the radiator instead of in the bay.
