Cheers thanks, your probably right. I’ve still got a bit more adjustment in the rear springs might take it down and see.

Interesting morning, decided to remove fuel tank to fix fuel float/sender. Found out that my in tank return line was broken off the swirl pot. Not a simple fix when you have a ute tank as you cannot get to the attachment to get the line back on. I decided to run the return line into the centre of the swirl pot itself so it sits just next to the  fuel pump pick up filter.

Got it all back together and the fuel sender is working again but will have to wait until the level gets down to near a 1/4 to see what happens.

Took a few shots while i was out for a short drive.

And a picture of the vacuum/boost gauge in drivers door.

Not giving up on the engineering just on hold till feb. Always said it will be engineered. Found out a reason why it was failing. The ems was sucking fuel vapour from the charcoal canister once the revs hit 1500rpm which would then make the readings for emmisions go over. Gotta love the little things you dont know about.

All good gary i hear that excuse all day lol.

love to get in the back seat but its a ute Gary, ill take a few shots with the gauge . Its a boost/vaccum gauge that fitted into the aircon vent surround. I just popped out the vent and got to it with the dremel then a few dabs of sickaflex. Needs a final wipe of black silicon and its good to go. The bonus is it is removable whenever i take the door apart.

I finally got around to finishing my door trim upgrade/modify. I have taken the leather top sections from a vs caprice, had to trim and drill some new holes in my original door cards to adapt. Finishes the doors off nicely i think.

Finally got the ute tuned ended up with 310 rwhp not huge numbers but enough for a ute i think. Glad i went with a tunable ecu.  I will post up some pics of the new twin exhaust. Sounds nice and tuff under load but not too bad cruzing.

Getting a new exhaust system tomorrow, have decided with twin 2.5 with flowmaster super 44 mufflers. It will be flanged before the diff so i can drop the rear muffler when i want some noise. Maybe down the line i will look at the Varex mufflers.

To top off my week my Summernats entry passes turned up!

Nice clean ute mate, good to see another VS ute on here.

As Gary said plenty of options out there with motors. At the end of the day take your time and plan it out so you only have to do it once.

Drives really well nice and tight, little bit bumpy with the coil overs but you get that. Will definitely need a retune.

The part in the EMS gear selector decided to to die last week as well so its still seems in limp mode.

It will all be fixed this week so hopefully by the weekend i will see what it can do.

Finally got the car registered but not engineered yet. With the drama’s of the IM240 emissions test, i decided just to get it on the road then address the engineering next year.

Cleaned up the bay a little, i removed the Maf as my new Wolf EMS has the built in Map sensor. Made a little right angle plate up for the front of the radiator just to finish it off. Still undecided if i like it.

Put the new wheels on for the first time and am pretty happy with it. Deciding if i will white wall them or not.

Thanks to the guys for your feedback on good oils to use in the 5L. Gave it an oil change today defiantly over due. Will take the gearbox on next weekend.

Glad i changed it, doesnt look like its been done for a while.

Might be doing it again in a few thousand just to see if its any better.

Interesting read thanks Gary. I was running twin inline euro 4 cats.

The issue was my new ems decided to go into limp mode for the test which just made everything rich used 0.5L of extra fuel, which lifted the levels to high. Nox and C02 are not a problem its the Thc and Co that killed me this time. Like i said previously it passed 96 standards but because its a 2000 build plate they get tougher on readings.

All good though registered the car today and will put everything back on cruise for a while then go back up with the tuner next year and he will tweak it in the test.

Yeah not to good. I have been 3 times now for this test and i’m so close its not funny.

Ive decided to put it on hold and register the car then my tuner will take it up to Sydney next year and tune it while running the test. Its not as straight forward as people think it has passed the levels needed for a vr commodore but because of my build plate being 2000 i fall under tougher levels.

It will be great when its finally done.

I managed to get 2 x VE catalytic converters from a V6 for a steal. I will run these one after the other to try and reduce emissions. I have also purchased the Wolf V550 EMS which should arrive this week. Then off to the tuners to see what we can do.

Ok so the test didn’t go to well, failed the Nox + Hc portion of the emissions test and super close on CO.

I have decided to purchase a Wolf V550 EMS so i can get it tuned properly whenever i need to. That old saying ringing in my ears this time “a poor man pays twice”.

Also purchasing a smaller charger pulley as it was only putting out 6psi. I will be taking it to 10 or 12psi and see what it can do!
