Posts: 289+1 looks awesome with the new wheels.
August 31, 2016 at 7:30 pm #19352Cheers people
it does look much better now with these wheels, stuff 20 inch rims, personally I think the 18 look heaps better with tyre to rim proportion
Will be good to see what mph I can get now as I can get a lot more power down with these
August 31, 2016 at 7:35 pm #19353140-145mph
August 31, 2016 at 7:38 pm #19354Looks great! Absolutely agree a bit of sidewall makes a lot of cars look heaps better.
August 31, 2016 at 8:33 pm #19355140-145mph
if I set it up for drags with tall tyres and th400 and a 5000rpm stally I have no doubt 140+ would happen
with me shifting from 2nd to 3rd on the brink of traction I for see 130mph

Posts: 5 777What, “only 130mph” whats that going to be mid 10’s?
September 1, 2016 at 5:26 pm #19359If I can do a 10.9 in manual with 4:11 on what is essentially street tyres I would be over the moon lol
i dont see it happening though, with the old v2 blower manual was great fun, now though it is starting to become a hand full to drive fast
maybe be I can fluke it on a pass some time hopefully lol
September 1, 2016 at 5:47 pm #19360130mph is 10’s.
If you can pedal it, it’s got a 9in it.

Posts: 5 777This has a 9 in it all day long powerwise. Negatives are, manual and irs. Unless Pete wants to chase a drag only set up a 10.xx would be unreal.
September 1, 2016 at 9:15 pm #19364when I own a drag car it will not be registered, it will be a drag car
this manta is a street car, if I ever get a defect or it gets me into to much trouble I would pull motor and chuck a basic ls combo in it and take this motor and sell blower, manifold, Intercooled and so on and use that money to fund a injected 8/71 on it and put it into something very very light for a drag car
untill then mental street car life
will get back down the strip again soon
September 2, 2016 at 7:35 am #19368got a new set of head gaskets coming soon along with head studs
Curious to know what head gaskets your using now and what your upgrading too Cometics?Have you got o rings? Also are you using bolts instead of studs or are you going to the bigger 1/2 inch studs in the centre?
Car looks great, should be able to put more of that power down now with those tyres.
September 2, 2016 at 1:12 pm #19373Got arp head studs 12 point nuts
And cometic mls gaskets 0.040
<span style=”line-height: 1.5;”> </span>
<span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>Changing them because a while back i had 1 of the heads off just before changing to e85 and could see one was starting to blow out so now im onto changing them before we really screw power out of it </span>
Would of been 18psi and 98 with what we think is a bit to much timing from last tuner, but it seamed to be ok but i want to be sure
Also goin to do a tiny bit of match porting i know it needs while im there

Posts: 5 777Is match porting as critical with FI?
September 2, 2016 at 5:27 pm #19382It all helps.
September 2, 2016 at 5:35 pm #19383When the intake ports are out from head to manifold by about 2 mm and exhaust ports on heads are square and extractors are round I’m guessing it’s not great

Lol, yea well there is that….
September 12, 2016 at 6:36 pm #19606So pulled the heads off and got the gaskets all changed
just st a stupid amount of work to do but it’s all done now, every cyilender had blowen out slightly
Couple pics of showing some random blow out parts, I match ported the heads to Intake manifold as they where out by around 1.5mm each side but didn’t do the exhaust ports as I’m getting a old head and want to port that and see where the water jackets are first
can see in the last pic just how much damage the pipes have done to the chassis rails even though there Hpc coated
will paint that again one day and put some heat shield there but couldn’t be stuffed at the moment lol
anyway ay it’s all back together so just look at a pic from the previous page as it still looks the same lol
September 12, 2016 at 7:02 pm #19608Do u always keep the nipples on water pump blocked?
September 12, 2016 at 7:25 pm #19611Your right, lot of work.Did that three times on first dodgy engine build trying different head gaskets, engine out twice also.Would be nice to have the extra head bolts.Good luck with the new tune.
