Posts: 105Curious to see what you think of rotors. Let us know when you test them with the mu ns400 pads. I ordered my hc800 for front and rear.

Posts: 227so turns out can’t get vented rotors to fit in stock solid caliper, but I got DBA T2 slotted rotor on the rear now… (215i had vented but diff caliper than 185i).

Posts: 105Yeah same deal with vn group a. Same diameter but different thickness and caliper. Think only vt-vz can run a vented rotor with a stock caliper but thickness is almost same.
I went with solid slotted too.

Posts: 227Did another track day at Queensland Raceway – brakes worked sweet but I didn’t push em too hard with late breaking…. the rears did get up to 300 degrees (laser temp in pits as soon as I jump out of car) and the front were less than 250… really need bigger brakes :/

Posts: 227RE: REAR BRAKE UPGRADES for IRS!?
Has anyone had any experience with the handbrake? Do you need to upgrade to VT style handbrake or something? How hard is that?
I see this UPC kit on ebay, but it looks like you are locking yourself into UPC only custom rotors… so you have to buy their rotors. I would prefer to buy off the shelf.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141503265048
Also, can someone confirm that VB-VZ all use the same stud pattern and VE-VF use a different stud pattern…
I was thinking I could get the above kit, then when the rotors wear out, do the VT handbrake upgrade, and then I can buy VZ 315mmx18mm rotors (like DBA 4000 T3 which I have on the front).

Yes you do. The hand brake shoes are a larger diameter so the bore in the hub of the rotor is larger. Its a fairly easy bolt in deal. I did it on mine. If you check out my build thread I detailed it all. Some people machine up a steel ring, then press it into the rotor bore and tack weld it so they work with the original hand brake but supposedly (I can not confirm though) that’s not legal.

I didn’t think you could put VE/VF wheels on early models?
I was hoping I could get this UPC kit, so I have 315mm x 18mm vented rears. Then when the rotors wear out, I could do the VT handbrake upgrade and buy off the shlef DBA T3 rotors. 315mm x 18mm rears is common size in HSV’s (went through the DBA catalogue).
Gary, IJ – what are your thoughts on this plan of attack?

Not without machining the Centre bore, same deal applies to VE>VZ, I had to get them machined to fit, it’s about $20 per wheel.

Posts: 227Chatted to the UPC bloke via email… he said they press rings inside the rotors to get the handbrake sorted. He said when the rotors are worn out, to cut the hat off the rotor, press out the ring and press into new rotors. He sells the rings for $199 for pair. hmmm.
He also reckons he started making his own rotors because he thinks DBA’s are crap. He says “The DBA rotors are made in the same factory as mine in China, just use the cheapest cast mix they can DBA. They are too hard.”

My VS brake upgrade thread - http://www.commodoresplus.com.au/forums/topic/vs-brake-upgrades/December 4, 2015 at 8:11 pm #11913As far as I’m aware the hand brake assembly was standard. I didn’t touch it.
