Posts: 5 777Pretty much as above. And most brake places will sell the bias valve. The way to think of it is just basically like a tap. You fit it anywhere at all along the line to the rear brakes, in my case its in the bay right by the ABS unit, it could be in the boot if you wanted. So you just cut the brake line and it fits in line. Once its in, if you turn the knob to screw it down, it just restricts the pressure to the rear bakes, so more goes to the front giving more front brake bias. Unscrew it lets more go to the back gives more rear. It was dead simple. If it was a race car of any sort, the way to do it is mount the valve through the trans tunnel or floor so the knob is inside the cabin, but the body of the valve isn’t. That way you don’t have to run any brake lines inside the cabin. This is mine, apologies for how dirty and messy it all is, still haven’t got around to a decent detail since it passed eng.

Posts: 227Did track day yesterday and the brakes worked quiet well but I think if you are going to be a track day campaigner you need bigger or a proper set up (willwood/AP racing). See thread in my signature for write up.

My VS brake upgrade thread - http://www.commodoresplus.com.au/forums/topic/vs-brake-upgrades/June 2, 2015 at 4:09 pm #7420I have done the VT upgrade on my VR including master cylinder. DBA cross drilled/slotted rotors on the front and new standard solid rotors on the back. QA1RM pads all round. More than happy with the performance now compared to the very under performing stock setup. It has done a few 15minute Lakeside Happy Laps club sessions with no fade problems.

Posts: 227mine never faded, just wore through the pads really really quickly! Think they get to a ‘too high’ temp and the pads just start disintegrating…

Time to get some temp indicator paint on the edges of the rotors and see what it’s really doing so you can correct it.

Posts: 227good idea! I got a laser thermometer – backs were almost 300 degrees and front were 225-250 degrees, when I got back into the pits, which was after the cool down lap (3 qtr lap to get back to pit entry). so who knows how hot they were on the track. There are 3 colours on the front rotors, pink / orange / green, and the green did turn grey after the last track day.

Posts: 82The PBR rear brakes for the VR /VS are the same diameter as stock, just vented. Also look at doing some brake ducts for at the track.
Holmart in Melbourne are known to have surplus HSV brake kits as well.

Posts: 105I believe from some brief research i did they use same caliper as au tickford model falcons and then the vn group a rotor for live axle models. Not sure about irs as I’ve not owned a vr/vs with irs. I think any upgrade i do to rears will involve handbrake mods to run vt-vz rears
June 11, 2015 at 4:22 pm #7589SSen, give these a go next time you do a pad change, Queensland Friction Materials A1rm range. Street/light track pad. Rated to a much higher temp. Locally made (Nerang Qld), and when I got mine (Global Auto Spares),cheaper than the pad you have shown. They perform well.

Posts: 227I think i’ll have to invest in some DBA 4000 T3 rotors for the rear, same as I have on the front, before the next track day.

Posts: 105Those look like the updated c4 calipers that pbr used on their upgrade kits. Front pads should be db1353. C5 were the later vt+ hsv performance caliper and C6 were used on some vz models with 320mm rotor.
Have you tested the mu’s yet? I’m going with the HC800 pads. Price is pretty good.
