FI = best of both worlds
Sure is. Ultimately would have loved to have a turbo, but it was too much cash to get it running and engineered
You’ve practically chosen an off the shelf 9 second package. Pretty damn good to me.
Exactly why I brought it mate. Too hard to pass up bang for buck.

There were a couple of VF HSV GTS’s (bloody overweight barge) running mid 12’s at the recent Fathers Day drags here in NZ, in a relatively light body like the VR it should be a right weapon set up properly like you will no doubt

yeah had a good look at them mate was very keen until I realized I need ac. Which has been stripped from car.
It it isn’t a big deal putting it back isn’t the issue. But making a ac compressor fit with the LSA in a VR bay would require a lot of work.
December 5, 2015 at 4:35 pm #11933Could always use an Electric Compressor..
December 5, 2015 at 4:58 pm #11934December 5, 2015 at 5:24 pm #11935Some of the Electric cars run a full electric AC Compressor, not sure on costs though..

Posts: 5 777Speaking of which, and sorry for the thread diversion but it may be relevant to you also Cav. I am wondering if a little of my starting/charging issue is the alternator cant cope. I mean I have the electric brake vacuum pump, electric water pump, big draw from the fuel pumps etc. Anyone know if that’s an issue, but would a higher capacity alternator fit in a VR with LS?
December 5, 2015 at 9:05 pm #11941Yes it’s a issue
a dam big issue to
can an have alternators made to fit anything
I have very little room running my custom pipes and drivers side alternator, I have just had one built in the states at 200amps and capable of 120amps at idle

December 5, 2015 at 9:37 pm #11946There very expensive and top quality stuff and will be $500au plus
I didnt get myn from there, I got myn from a smaller company of just a few employes, he custom makes them to suit, so Iv got a cs130 case with a 12 o’clock front housing, runs a internal reg so nothing on the back of it besides its power supply wire, can be made from anywhere from 150amp up to 300amps and myn is 200amp
cost at me a nice $204 au and $85 delivery and had it with in 10days from the states
December 6, 2015 at 7:47 am #11948Yeah I still need to buy an alternator. My Mate Wayne Finch put you onto Mechman. They do some good gear. But sadly the dollar has taken a dive since he first brought his
Who made yours Pete. $300 is much more reasonable.

Posts: 5 777I think it was an Aeroflow billet. I drilled out the top mounting hole so I could push the Alternator hard against the block as there was a couple of mm clearance. There’s bugger all between the Alternator and chassis rail although the motor torques away from that rail and with the Tuff mounts the motor is virtually solid mounted.

sweet I remember had to mod something. Just couldn’t Denver where. Hopefully today I can take some happy snaps of the conversion. Get your opinion on it
Narrowed my cam selection to 2 grinds. One is more strip orrientated then the other. Both will sound sinister.

They were both running on standard street tyres, trouble getting em out of the hole.
December 11, 2015 at 5:39 pm #12096Not much to update as of late. Been busy with work and the little one.
I did manage to swap my headers for a set of CRS 1-7/8 4-1 headers. These should help get the engine breathing.
Have also purchased some goodies
TCI LSA flex plate + ARP bolts
Holley 12-848 Fuel Reg
Sump Gasket
Improved Racing baffle kit + Crank Scraper.
My windage tray is also at ASR getting modded.Plan is to hopefully ease engine in over the Xmas break.
