Posts: 5 777No power runs yet!! (today is the day)
Well, quite an eventful day Friday, first chance I have had to get on the forum. But first things first IT LIVES!!! By the end of Friday its all running, run in, and the tune fixed up. Great oil pressure, compression etc, zero issues so far with my engine assembly effort which I am relieved about…
Tune wise he showed me the AFR maps before and after, and quite frankly, I can not believe the amount of money I have paid “tuners” and the absolute crap they have given me. But anyhow, that was the whole idea behind going with Brenton and including the engine dyno time.
So today its power runs and see what this bad boy can do. I went around Friday afternoon and listened to it start up, seriously it’s insane, even at idle it just sounds amazing, very very angry.
So here’s a couple of videos of startup, hopefully, tonight I can post up a decent video and will know what numbers its spitting out…

Posts: 535Tuning is an art, the stupid thing is the max power/torque part is probably one of the easier bits and what most people are interested in (for bragging rights). The cold start, idle (from cold to hot) part throttle applications and all the transitions between those points is where the time is spent getting it right.

A tuner took out my engine. There are very few decent tuners despite reputations , thats why im in vic and my tuner is sydney based. Its extremely hard to find a decent tuner. This thing sounds really healthy and im glad someone is taking care of it. Getting the timing and AFR correct rebuild aside will make a huge difference to how it drives, power it makes, how much fuel it uses and engine bay temps

exactly my l67 has had huge hours in tuning to get all the stuff sorted you mention makes the biggest difference to the driving experience

Posts: 5 777I know some people are hanging to hear like I am, unfortunately, they have sheared the drive off the water pump on the dyno (not my engine). And its taken a day and a half to get the parts to fix it.

Actually just the standard LSx one. I worked a lot with Adam at Precision on what to change etc, he thought (and so did Brenton) that was enough. I did spend the time and align it properly with feeler gauges though.

Posts: 15The reason i asked is melling have a new pump out specifically for blocks with priority mains.
Its a high pressure low volume pump. Comparing it to the melling high volume high pressure pump that i was using and lots of LS nuts use, the new pump pumps 9LPM less .
Thats gotta help with windage, cooling etc
I think with the standard pump you would find that you’d have to much flow and it would be bleeding off at pump.
Im also using pushrod restiction for oil.
Im set for street and circuit
Melling pump 10294 15% less volume than stock

Understand, sounds like a nice piece of kit. Mine is a streeter, so not that fussed about ringing out the last hp.
It just made 680 at 5,500 rpm, but just blown an injector o ring, getting there though.

February 13, 2019 at 3:15 pm #28000Looks promising. Is that just basic power runs or is he chasing it?

Posts: 5 777750HP, pretty much on the dot : Maxing out the intake, makes a shit ton of torque. Sounds absolutely incredible in person, literally your rib cage vibrates. Easy has 800+ in it if I wanted to cut a hole in the bonnet and go a big intake, but that not what I want, or what the cars about. Over the moon, so happy, for me the perfect streeter engine.
