    <p style=”text-align: left;”>With 3.55 a rear, a gear vendors probable isn’t really needed. Not like it’s 4.11 and cruising @100 on 3700</p>

I only asked because if it maybe is on the cards than a more optimal gear set like 4.11 could be used.

I will say though as the car sits now + the 700hp goal, you’d still have sand bag it if you wanted to make a few runs.

Yea that’s what I am thinking, I dont really want to put a cage in it, so if I can have a bit of a play, do some runs, then get a stout number and get booted, i would be pretty happy.  Honestly all I have ever wanted was to run a 10.XX from a 1/4 mile point of view, its more about doing some track driver days, especially now they are building The Bend only an hour from me, and Mallala is only about half an hour from my house.

    Chubby Senators :yahoo:

The Bend is coming along nice.

Was out there a few months back and they are really building it!

    4.11s and 700hp with a 4500 stall FTW!  :fist-bump:

No need for a 4500 stall on a car with a torque and power curve like mine, would be throwing away lots of the usable parts of the curve. It makes 80% of full torque at 2,000rpm.  Of course we are going bigger with the cam etc so that will change.  4.11’s wouldn’t be usable on the street.  Chatted to him last night, (apologies if this isn’t quite right its a bit past my level of knowledge tbh) but he is going to play around porting one cylinder and flow it, and get a  velocity profile (is that right?) then once he knows that, and the static compression ratio etc he will design the cam specs and order that.  He is just waiting for a stud kit to finish off the machining.  So its happening :)

If you want to set it up to run good numbers at drags, work on the 60ft and sandbag I say mate!  :good:

That combo should run low 9s and can sandbag 10s all day long.

I would be happy as if it ran consistent 10’s, and a solid mid to low 10 would be awesome, and what i would like to achieve at some stage.  I cant imagine it having a 9 in it in full street weight, with interior etc, with an IRS.  But if it ever ran 9.99 you guys would hear me screaming on the east coast :yahoo:

New setup with change alot of its characteristics.

You want stall speed about 2-500 RPM above Peak Torque, otherwise your leaving room on the table for improvement

I get it, and if I all I cared about was 60′ times and the quarter your right, but seriously I will go to the drags once, and if I get a 10, I am going home and most likely wont ever be back.  Its just not my thing, which is why I haven’t been down the track for over 30 years. The stall is 3500 now, I can’t see peak torque on this being way too far from that, and even if it is due to the capacity it will always have a relatively flat torque curve.  And anyhow at the end of the day, when I run under 11 and they are gong to boot me anyways.  I built this car as an all rounder, which is exactly what it is.

Cool as. Sorry I thought you wanted to go really fast in her after the rim and tyre sizes etc came up. 10s is doable with the air conditioning on and super lazy off line if its making 700hp anyway. Such a nice chassis you wouldn’t want to wreck it anyway.  :good:

    That twist!

^Thanks for the vid dude, that’s epic.  What a sleeper!! I love the air freshener hanging off the indicator stalk, and the HWY454 plates are cool as.  I’m inspired!

I think you will be inspired if TheBend track is as good as the plans look too. Once you go 11s you will want to go 10s.  :yahoo:

Best thing is you could probably just get some tyres for your custom rims you have now and run a 10 all day long with the freshened 454 donk!  Cubes FTW

Not much to do whilst I wait for the engine build, so thought I would give the bay a nice polish up.  Loos pretty much like the day it came back from the painters.

Also a mate popped around who is going to sort out the loom work for me and make it all much neater and tidier.  He is also going to remove the 9injector adapters as well as remove the Linkenfelter box.  So some progress I guess ;-)

Bay still looks great, was it hard to get the engine out without marking it?

Not really, i am pretty much used to working on it and being careful.  I have some cheap quilts I bought from Target and I throw them over the car so I dont lean directly on it or if I drop something it has a half a chance of not scratching it.

Think of it as fanning a clutch in a manual car to get the engine into the meaty part of it’s power curve.

Great way to put it IJ, and it does it by itself.

I knew 2/10ths of stuff all about them too before starting my build, flare/stall/loose/tight bla bla, the guys that know what they are doing like Grant at Norwood’s who did mine can make them do just about anything to suit the application.
