I was just planning to go back to the people I used before who did a great job, Wickes Steve & Sons Pty Ltd, 555 Main North Rd, Gepps Cross 8262 4673. Plan on dropping it to them today at lunchtime.

Cheers. I might give them a shot.

Just dropped it off to him, apparently he works on his own now so turn around times can be a bit slower, but he did a great job on my other stuff.

OK CP drag racing brains trust….

    So I am going to get a pair of 15″ steelies made up, so I can run ET streets.  Ant these I believe are what I have to pick from;

I think I could possible squeeze 295’s in there. but I know 275’s will fit.  So what do you guys think I should go for, and given I am getting the rims made up, so i can set the offset to 31P what width would be ideal?

New engine will rev to 7k, rear is 3.55:1, yea I am fitting interceptors, just going to make them the width and offset to suit the tyres.

You might find your better off with a 255. So it helps with RPM over the line.

Not sure, wouldn’t the extra traction be more use?  I have no idea what sort of mph it may run.  I would be happier with it not quite pulling 7k at the line than hitting the limiter just before?

You want it to rpm as much as you do hook up. Have to find the happy medium

You don’t want to cross the line at 5000 and leaving a tonne of power out of the equation.

Play with tire calculators etc and see what you come up with. I wouldn’t go any bigger then 275.

No worries, for some reason I keep thinking 275 is the go. If I do is there a perfect rim width for 275s?

I would get some 17″ pursuit rims or chasers off ebay and have BarrelBros or an engineering shop widen them. Clear big brakes and looks better. Or get 16″ VE rims hub bore done and wider.

    Link to eBay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/292225226391

Not tried or used these rims but worth a shot if you have big brakes or want to keep car close to factory spec. Also, be interesting to know what the offset is for the 9″ version? :good:

I use this calculator to work it all out:

    https://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

These guys also have an app called Wheel Tire Calculator by Aiming Dreams on phone which is super handy too.

I chose my brake package specifically as even though they are 4 spot rears they clear a 15″ rim.  More sidewall is better for grip, and I figure that can only be a good thing given its IRS.  Have over the years had a lot of wheel work done, there is a good place I use here in Adelaide (Extensive Wheel Services) that you just give them a 15″ interceptor, tell them what rim size you want and the offset and they take the centre out and fit the new outer.  Easy as.

Cool as. I have the big VY Harrops on back of mine and have been looking at using VN SV rims as they have right offsets for my VL BW78 in VN. Might suss a pair of the eBay rims yet to see how they go. :)

Yea my Willwood set up is 6 piston fronts, 4 piston rears, brakes are epic.  But as i say specifically went for the ones that fit inside a 15″ rim on the rear and the original 17″x 8 HSV 5 spokes on the front.  Always had in mind running it on the strip at some stage.

They are currently finishing off the machining of the block and crank.   The heads are stripped down, and thankfully are perfect.  I didn’t realize it has titanium inlet valves and sodium filled exhaust valves standard.  He is then working out the static compression we are going for.  Then we know what we need to order and the sizes, i.e. pistons etc.

I was having second thought about doing the final assembly myself, and I spoke to him at length about it.  He thinks I am capable of it, and will get a lot of satisfaction out of doing it myself.  He is going to do the blueprinting so everything will be sized etc.  I do like the idea of having ago at screwing it all together myself.
