Decided to try and get motivated and finish off a couple fo things, never been totally happy with the engine breather set up.  Worked out there is a push in fitting that goes to 12AN that fits nicely in fill hole on the rocker cover, just had to turn the lip down a little in the lathe.  Drilled a corresponding hole in the other rocker.  So will modify the catch can to take both 12AN’s formt he rocker and existing valley breather and do away with the engine re-breather completely to see how that performs.  yes I know its technically not legal that way but I just want to see how it works, then i will work out where to go from there.

Also (here goes nothing!!) want to try and get the CAI done, or at least moving along.  What are peoples thoughts on these custom 3D printed tops i have come up with for the plenums.  I know i was going for the itbs being exposed but I think still looks well engineered and will work well.  Peoples honest thoughts please before i go too much further….

Function over form so it looks fine to me.  You can always remove em when you show the car etc.

AS ABOVE be interesting to see what difference it will make have you sorted the rest of it , if you can do some thing on the tops cover the x would look good , would you lose the induction noise

Should run them to 2 catchcan either side of radiator. Also I’ve asked before. But what’s the silver box where ur air box normally sits?

Need some sort of Fresh air inlet into the engine somewhere Gary, just needs to be a 2mm orifice, Air Boxes are looking great!

Cheers, just sort of gave it a longer look, I think it looks good, I mean at the end of the day it has to work.

Dont think I will lost the noise, it gets pretty hectic in the cab under wot, cant imagine it losing it all but I guess time will tell.

Yea I am just unsure Cav, as soon as a cop pulls the bonnet its a give away though, but no doubt its the way to go.  I still have my factory charcoal canister there too on the drivers side..  I am leaning toward a larger one where it is under the guard with two separate 12AN inlets into it.  Its actually not that much further in distance (on one side of course)  I think i might try that first.

Not sure what box you are talking about??

I didn’t know that IJ thanks, where does that need to be?

Anywhere into the Crankcase, stock they run a line from the DS Rocker cover to the intake tract so it sucks filtered air.

Thanks, interesting, so the LSX454 has a small tap off point the DS rocker cover,   you can see I have plugged it with a small plastic plug I 3D printed. Its level with the logo but in front of it.  Maybe I put that back and run a line up into the side of the plenum through a grommet?  What is the actual job it does?

It just allows “flow” through the engine so you get “positive” crankcase ventilation at all times, it’s a metered air leak.

What’s why 2 catch cans work best.

One vents and the other inhales.

Just seems needlessly complex doing it that way Cav  :-)

Just a 4mm Vacc line with a 2mm restrictor to the plenum would do the trick, mine is plumbed into the Duct between the MAF and the Throttle Body.

    I like to complicate things.

Gary the chrome reservoir. Looks like it’s for coolant.

Yea 2 tanks seems like overkill to me.  Yep Cav it’s the radiator overflow.

    Ahh ok cool.

How come u run it like that? Is it pressurised?

Jut tap a small hole in the back of the air box. It will look stealth.

When I was looking around at options for the tank it just seemed a neat way to do it, its just a regular overflow style tank.  It does have a pressure cap. When it wasn’t there the bay looked a little lop sided with the ABS etc on the left, so it just balanced it up.  Works perfectly too, so best of both worlds I guess.  Thanks boys for the breather bleed tip, I didn’t know that.  There is a similar tap off point at the very rear on the passenger side rocker so i reckon that would be perfect into the rear of the plenum, easy as and stealthy.

Ok was planning to post this on the week end but sort of got distracted.  Making nice progress, a mate of mine did some laser cutting of some stainless reinforcing strips and some neoprene gaskets.  Used stainless button heads, pretty happy with the look and function of it all.

Also modified the power steering reservoir so I could move it across out of the way of the intake, turned up a bottom mount to take it directly into the inlet of the power steering pump itself.  Will use an orb plug to block off the old side mount.  Also made up a custom bracket to mount it, hit it with some satin black, happy with how that all turned out.

Also had to lengthen the iat sensor cable, it not for the first time has a lovely mounting spot in the plenums between two trumpets.

Also decided to mount the breather tank in the bay, it sits under the radiator filler.  Works nice, and its super stealthy, I was able to route the two -12 hoses so you can hardly see them.  On the week end will get it up on the hoist and P clip it all properly.

And have got most of the CAI feed done, am thinking I might stop at that and drive the car for a bit to enjoy it again, then one final push to get the CAI truly done and dusted.

Nice work with the power steering res, and the intake looks to be coming along nicely too Gary.
