    Good to get some cool air into those ITB’s.

    How are you going to stop water from getting to the panel filter’s?

    Thanks all, some really good info to ponder there, much appreciated.  As always I seem to have tackled somethng a little outside my skill level. The actual printing is proving to be a challenge.  I want to use ABS for its heat and strengh properties, unfortunately its a bitch to 3D print perfectly.  Getting there though, learning heaps which I guess is part of the fun.  Should have some pics of progress once the weather cools down and I can get into the shed.

    Making progress, although have to say printing large thin walled objects in ABS is proving to be quite a challenge.  As it happens doing the research everyone struggles with it.  Have a couple of thoughts, persist with ABS.  Or maybe treat this is an actual prototype, so switch to PLA or something easier.  Then at the end once its done, either have another go at ABS or get them professionally printed with a big large scale commercial printer.  If I do that maybe I get each one made as a single piece.  Anyhow cross that bridge when I come to it.

    Happy with how it is turning out though so far.  Actually quite a bit of details to get right you cant really see (as is often the case) so being able to make changes etc to get it right is really great.  Going to finish off the drivers side first which is a little simpler.  Then do the passengers, going to make it so the fronts are level with each other, of course being a V8 if they were the same they would be staggered which I think would mess with my head look wise.  Also going to make it work nicely with the fuel lines etc at the rear of that bank.

    Looks like I have scored the bonnet, so in between prints running through ideas on what to do bonnet wise.  Part of me wants to keep it stealthy, part of me wants to make it a little out there.  Being a little old school the idea of an ITB “twin shaker” design would look pretty cool, but not sure, again wait until i have got a bonnet on and I can start mocking stuff up.  Couple of progress pics;

    Thanks Nick, I think its going to be what I wanted, I didn’t want to cover the whole engine with some big ass tray, this way it still has that nice look with the orange rocker covers, and the fuel rail set up.  Still a long way to go but progress is progress :yes:

    Hey Gary just thinking outside the box could you cover each box bring  pipes out of each front and modify a otr

    then you would have it filtered , you could incorporate it in to bonnet so maybe the covers and otr lift up with bonnet ,, just an idea looking good any way

    <p style=”margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;”>This is looking good. Could you do a couple of small openings in the bonnet like on a HT/HG Monaro but a bit closer together leading straight into the top of each air box? Would have minimal effect on the overall lines of the car.</p>

    :good: The new dodge demon’s new release vid shows the air grabber looks like a nice bit of kit. The intake from the scoop in the hood goes straight to the filter. Their vids look cool too. Worth a look.

    Hi all, going in to get the other bonnet tomorrow so then I can play but I am thinking an early Monaro kinda sorta thing.  But might even try and design my own front sections to the scoop to try and go with the Senator style grill and front bar shape.  Not a huge fan of the OTR thing as there just isn’t really the room to do it and to me anyway would be a bit ugly, but understand thats a total personal preference thing.  I actually also sorta want the car to stand out a little more, so having a custom dual scoop bonnet that actually works and serves a purpose is I think not all bad.

    Fun day today.  Finished off the drivers side box, 3D printed some joint reinforcing parts, then made up some “ABS Glue” using acetone and off cut ABS and got it all bonded together, really happy with it.  Did quite a bit of 3D modelling to work out how to do the drivers side to cope with the trumpet offset etc, think I have that nutted out.  Parts are on the printer now.  Also went out and picked up the spare bonnet.  Was very straight but covered in mold, so spent some time cleaning that up.  Then couldn’t help myself and got out the ruler, pencils etc and started laying out the bonnet.  Truthfully put a big bucket upside down at the A frame of the trailer, sat and stared and just tried to imagine what might look OK.  Have some ideas I want to explore.  But I am thinking using something to great two 150mm wide bulges  from front to back, maybe made out of some oval exhaust pipe if I can get it, top half will form the bulge, bottom half will run out at the front.  Might have to model that up and see what people think.  Anyhow, as I say lots of fun.

    Do the Monaro air vent on the bonnet and direct them into the air box.

    You can buy “Monaro” vented bonnets for the VR. :)
    But that spoils the fun of custom making one. :-P

    Yea not a huge fan of the Monaro bonnets on a VR.  I don’t like the way the vents angle back so much.  And agreed, most of the fun is in making it custom.  Most other things on it are, why stop now ;-)

    I agree the Monaro bonnet looks poxy unless u have the boxes sea agains the top of the bonnet and have 3-4inch tube with a pod filter run to each bank.

    not these but just the concept of how they don’t stick up at all and are just flush with the bonnet to keep the sleek standard look and not have any new raised lines as VS do not have many lines and are  mostly curves

    obviously just designe some up your self and print them out that suit your car and not just these quick google images I found in 35 seconds
