Posts: 5 777Love the 3d centre caps. Look mint!
Cheers, and really I can do just about any custom design for the face you want.
June 21, 2016 at 9:52 am #17901Brillaint, site looks
Well this is very exciting! I think some of you will know that my daughter Georgie and I have gone into partnership and decided to start our own online 3D CAD design and printing business. The idea came out of some of the parts I designed for HSV454. Our product line is fairly modest right now but we plan to add cool products as we go along. Tonight is the official launch of the online store. We would love you to go take a look and let us know what you thinkImpressive range and site where has it been shared??

Posts: 5 777So may have hit my first (hopefully small) issue. I posted up a pic of the car starting and giving it a rev the other day and my tuner saw it and immediately sent me a wtf message as it being rich as hell. He is thinking maybe given the fuel filter had so much crud in it maybe either the injectors are fouled, and/or now the filter has no restriction the injectors are over fueling. I have also noticed an issue where the fuel pressure bleeds away after I switch off, which he said isn’t right and indicates the regulator is not seating properly. Again that may be caused by seat being dirty etc.
So I went around and saw him and on the week end I am going to remove the injectors and drop them into him. He is going to have them cleaned etc, I will also check the reg. Then once I have it back together he is going to come up to Gawler for the day and we will go out on the highway and do another driving/tune session.
Have said it before but I really want to give Bell Auto a shout out. Steven is very old school in service, very knowledgeable and just a real top guy to deal with.
Will post up once its all done

Posts: 5 777June 22, 2016 at 10:33 pm #17916Yeah should hold pressure for at least a few minutes
think about 2psi every 30 seconds bleed off is about normal
myn Odle enough sometimes holds pressure for days, Iv looked at myn 3 days later and has 30psi still in it
i did immediately think rich when I seen the vid
could be 1 injector stuffed, Iv had that before on stock engine, just run a bit crappy and took them in for flow testing at a local parts dealer that had flow test thing there and seen 1 was stuck open when we hooked them up or like you say it could be reg or a number of things
make sure you change them filters in end of injectors if you had a heap of crap in filter
June 22, 2016 at 10:35 pm #17917Could be a minor leak somewhere as well

Posts: 5 777Cheers, yea before it used to hold the pressure for days (indefinitely) as well. I would shut it down, maybe start it up the next week and it would still be sitting on 60 psi or whatever.
Its mental rich, as my tuner said he had it for a day on the dyno, no way he would have let me have it if it was like that, I just hadn’t put 2 and 2 together. Hopefully no harm done.
Going to pull them on the week end then have them checked. Would be pretty hard to pick with it if only one was semi dead, I reckon its probably making 500 on 7 cylinders :) Seriously though, will find out what it is then post up in case it helps anyone else trouble shoot.

Posts: 5 777So got the Kombi sorted Saturday, gave me today on the Senator. Gotta say, lifting the plastic car cover and working on it just makes me smile. My old quilt I use to throw over it when I am working was past its used by date, so went down to the local Target and bought a single quilt for $19. I have found they are the best when working on it, as even if you drop a spanner or bolt or whatever there’s a bit of cushioning to lessen the chance of damaging the paint. Pulled the pressure reg off and gave it a thorough clean, tbh looked clean as a whistle. So after that pulled the injectors. They have these very JDM purple colored adapters so the injectors fit. they have this press in screen, I tried blowing through them and could tell there was a restriction. Tbh I am not sure if its an issue. Will get the injectors cleaned and flowed anyhow. Also contacted the guy I know about changing the plugs on the injector loom so i don’t need to run an adapter plug, but have to see if hes available. Anyhow, fun day.

Posts: 5 777Dropped off the injector adapters into the anodisers at lunch time. $60 all up and they will come back black not the full on JDM purple
June 27, 2016 at 6:42 pm #17976Sean though you built this car with not much left unmodifyed on it
why dont you take them adapters and throw them in the bin
then set set up the fuel rails to sit lower onto the 3/4 length injectors ??
Or you you can just keep going and anodise them and I will just be quite

Posts: 5 777I had actually looked into that, but tbh I really like the look of the fuel rails and where they sit and the custom clamps I had made up. Only thing I don’t like is the rails aren’t very well chromed. I was half contemplating taking them off and have them re chromed and properly polished. I have also contacted my mate who was going to do the wiring for me changing the injector plugs over so i don’t have to run the electrical adapter. I think all that will clean it up quite a bit. One day when I have the engine out for some serious mods, there’s a far bit I have planned but not right now.
June 27, 2016 at 10:00 pm #17994Ar yep just had a look at the alloy bits holding rails in place
stuff changing that
but definetly change injector plugs over, them adapters are not known for there reliability

Posts: 5 777Yea agreed, the other thing with the plugs it makes it so bulky, the position of the injectors in my manifold means its a bit of a struggle to position them, they only go in one way or the connectors foul each other. I don’t like that from a wiring point of view, much rather have everything with a bit of room and no strain on anything.

Posts: 5 777Well, little bit of aesthetic tidying up coming along. Means its off the road for a couple of weeks, but once its back should look a little neater

Posts: 5 777Well much much happier with that. Got the fuel rails chrome plated, they were zinc before and just lacked that shine. Also now the injector adapters are back it all blends so much nicer I think. My mate who was going to help me do the wiring on the injectors has had an operation recently so isn’t able to do it for a while so that can wait. I ave actually ordered a pair of silver 180 degree bends at the front of the rails, but not sure, I like the red/blue, and the rest of the system is like that. Might wait and see once they arrive and then make a decision. I do think the top of the engine looks much nicer now, I am really happy with it.
Only pia was I started it up after and noticed a small exhaust leak on the drivers side where the manifold bolts to the head, turned out to be a leaking gasket. Luckily having been down this path when I first got it running and knowing the exhaust gaskets are unique to the LS7 heads I had already two new spares hanging up in the shed. So an hour or so later all done.
Will now get it down to Stephen for a re tune and see whats going on with the richness, we might even have a play depending on how it goes and see if we cant dial some more power out of it now its done a couple of thousand k’s and is nice and loose. I personally think its got close to 400 rwkw in it but time will tell. its really only a number anyhow.
Couple of pics
July 9, 2016 at 6:14 pm #18298You should do the return on the rails all alloy and get rid of the braid.
