Posts: 5 777Well i do have the filters, but they are pretty ugly. So basically will keep changing the oil but keep an eye on it.
December 20, 2015 at 10:20 pm #12320Who cares if there ugly

Posts: 535I agree, put the filters on for everyday stuff, take them off when displaying the vehicle.

Posts: 5 777Well, I have been building this car for so long, and I just love the look of the fiber trumpets, so for now I am just going to enjoy it as it is. Its not like I am taking it up the Strzelecki Track or anything.

December 21, 2015 at 6:12 pm #12598Do the trumpets have mesh on them? If they do could you swap to finer stuff? Or would it reduce airflow.
December 21, 2015 at 7:42 pm #12601As long as you change the oil regularly it will be fine

Posts: 5 777Trumpets have nothing, if I open the throttle I can actually see down to the valves :) I have screens, they are just a fine mesh that pretty much are “rock blockers” and just stop small children accidentally walking past from being sucked into the intake, I really ought to put them on. But I also have actual custom air filters I Had made up. As I say right now I am just enjoying it, at some stage I want to fish designing up a nice carbon fiber CAI system. Plenty of time for that though eventually. For now will just keep up the oil changes.
December 21, 2015 at 8:49 pm #12603Honestly. If you never had the report you would never have known….
Who cares. Just do a skid FFS. You on par to be my first ban victim. Once u teach me how to ban.
December 21, 2015 at 10:21 pm #12604Fuck yeah get the ban stick out lol

Posts: 5 777Nice little job done and dusted. Hot as over here so just started messing around with this this morning and just sort of got into it. Got Galwer Art & Signs to make up a nice decal I drew up for me, so applied that to the selector clear plastic display. Used a sander and removed the silk screening etc for the underside. Cut the bottom out of the original white plastic housing and made up an ally strip to mount the panel lights. Also made up a little loom and used a 6 way connector so its all easy to service or remove if I have too. I am really happy with it, nice and neat I think. Few pics for posterity;
p.s. forgot to mention I had to cut about 5mm away along the edge of the black plastic strip that moves back and forth with the shifter.

Posts: 5 777Cheers all, really happy with how it turned out. I love the ratchet but its was a bit of a pain not knowing what gear you were in, this just sorts that.

Posts: 5 777Btw these are the people that made the decal, they have it on file so pretty sure they could easily make another if you wanted it. http://www.gawlerartandsigns.websyte.com.au/
These are the lights I used, on eBay they are also available in green I think.
The ally strip I just bought at Bunnings, its 20mm wide x 1.8mm thick
The connector was a 6 way Molex type from Jaycar
