So done a little research, looks like my idea of removing the reverse lock out on the Pro Ratchet, whilst doable, means it wont be legal as there is nothing preventing me going from D to R. Legality is an issue. I really don’t want to pick up a defect for a simple lever. So looks like its back to the original plan of the lever, but maybe I will make the lever end black instead of red or something so it doesn’t stand out so much. I mean I intend running the B&M ball with the trans brake switch anyway. Pity I cant get a black round gear stick ball, I have looked around but don’t seem to be able to find one, unless anyone else knows of one? This is the look I want but would prefer the gear knob black (and it needs the trans brake)

It’s obviously going to get handled alot, so a proper job is a must, but would it be that hard to just paint the knob black?

With the proper prepwork and a crapload of clear it should last just about forever??

When i get it home I will have a look at it, I have a couple of ideas in my head.  But something like that will be the go.  I don’t want to hide it as such, just make less obvious :)

I was thinking maybe wrapping it, even in a fake leather or something but the shape makes it nearly impossible.

    A PlastiDip would be ideal???

On thinking again…. You have access to a 3D printer don’t you? Would it be hard to CAD one up for yourself?…

Given my car is a Senator and has the wood grain surround, one idea I had after chatting on FB was maybe getting a timber lever top made, maybe even a wooden gear knob all varnished and polished up of course, make it all look a bit posh?

You can always get whatever surround you make hydrodipped in a wood grain finish.

Well still progressing with the gearbox install, just been around there having a look.  As I suspected fitting 4 into 1,  1″7/8 headers in there is no mean feat.  We have got the passenger side in, just playing about to start on the drivers side.  Looks like it it will mean loosening the header to head bolts, allowing the headers to be pulled wider, fit the trans, then lock them up.  Still looks like we may have to get creative with the gear linkage, but will know more about that soon.  Rear trans mount adapter is made, tail shaft is off being modified.

Taking a little longer than planned to fit the glide, or more the exhaust to work with it.  There’s very little room to work with in the bay with the LSx in there, so everything is very tight pretty much everywhere.  They are looking pretty good though, working around the steering on the drivers side is always an issue with an LS swap though.  Once we have them right will pull them out and get them ceramic coated.  Hopefully not far then.

Well headers are in, just going to move the cats to the back of the collectors, then a bit of a “cut and shut”, or really lengthen and narrow the exhaust to marry up with them, then the headers are off for ceramic coating.  Then its reassembly, getting closer now :)

They do look pretty good I have to say, very well made. Def on the drivers side it pays to slice the manifold flange so they are 4 separate pipes, much easier to fit then.

Haven’t got it all in and down on the ground yet Cava, when I do I will take a few pics etc.  They sit up about as high as they can go though close to the underside of the car, so without doing some surgery to the floor not sure what you could do.

As you can see from this pic the Paccies come down as the 4 pipes then go onto the pair of two’s alongside each other anyway, so I am not sure these will be that much lower.

Well have had some really shit news about my Dad today, feeling prety fucking ordinary tbh. But anyhow did have some good news I guess, headers are off for ceramic coating, should be back tomorrow, expect to have the glide in and sorted by the end of next weeek.  Spoke to the tuner and its booked in for the week after. Aiming for it back melting tyres for my birthday the next week end, might take the old man for a squirt, he will like that.

Not sure why i am posting here, but sort of feel like have some friends on here, bit fucked really, he already has parkinsons, now looks like cancer, pretty down tbh.  Anyhow, life goes on. Might just fry my first set of tyres with him, that will make him smile. Sometimes life sucks.

Thanks guys, sorry all, in retrospect not really the place to post that, but I do appreciate the pm’s etc.  Yesterday I just think maybe the reality hit home he’s now going to be around forever.  But all good, that’s just life, we all have to go sometime.  Back to building cars :)
