Posts: 5 777Well she is all booked in for 9:00 am tomorrow morning for its inspection.
I am not actually a religious man myself, but anyone who has followed this build from the start probably knows what it means to me. So tomorrow morning if you could pray, sacrifice a goat, cross your fingers, run over a cat, stroke your lucky rabbits foot or wear your lucky socks for me it would be very much appreciated. Its supposed to take 2 hours plus. Going to be bloody shitting pellets the whole time.
Will post up tomorrow sometime how it goes, in the hands of the powers that be now.
May 5, 2015 at 10:24 am #6279Will sacrifice a Steak to the Car gods tonight Gary :XD:

You seriously have no bloody idea what a relief it would be and how happy that would make me.
Its just been sitting there hanging over every bloody decision almost on what I have done to the car, I reckon I could write a bloody book on this build, I just want that part over so I can move on and just enjoy it.
I have said before it always seems to throw up a curve ball and test me, I expect the same again, but time will tell.

Posts: 5 777Rather than clutter the other members thread, I found a pic of the old VR 5L 5 speed I had that had the flywheel shatter doing burnout at 6,000rpm, pierced the floor in 3 places, luckily missed my feet, severed the chassis rail, destroyed engine/box. $26,000 total write off. It went off like a bomb. Part of it went up vertically and smashed the air conditioning stuff behind the dash to pieces. About a third of the flywheel we never found, I assume it exited out the side. The clutch pedal got hit so hard it swung around and was pointing vertically up. Scariest thing I have ever had happen in a car. This is a scan of the damage

Not sure, this was a bog standard 5L. Wasn’t even pulling stupid revs and only had 100,000 km on the clock.

Posts: 5 777Well the flat beads booked, so I will be at the RTA about 9am tomorrow. Should know “the verdict” I would say by around 11 am. If its a good one you will probably here me hollering up there in Qld, if not, I will be a bit more subdued….

Posts: 5 777I should add nothing will stop me eventually getting it through, that’s a given in my mind I wont bloody rest until it is. Its just a matter of how easy/hard and how long/short it takes..

Posts: 5 777I have just received this from my engineer, and I have to say that means a whole lot to me, coming from someone so respected in the industry.
Not once did he just say yes or no. Instead he listened to what I had planned and made suggestions on how to work within the framework of the regulations. I could not recommend him highly enough.
May 6, 2015 at 3:10 pm #6344Awesome, really had no doubts it would go though easily enough, so much better built than the majority of street rods that somehow pass regs!
