Posts: 5 777That’s so flat, the shine is insane
Thanks, I kid you not, if you look down the side of it in real life, it’s perfect, and I mean it. Frank took 7 months to paint it, and that was a car that was basically dent free and no rust. At the time I thought it was overkill, but here we are more than 5 years later and its still mint. I don’t want to jinx myself, but feel like I am finally getting back on top of it.

Posts: 5 777Had a day off today, wanted to do a few little things before displaying it at Holden’s Back Home tomorrow at Peter Page Holden. (anyone in SA if you are there drop by the car and say g’day)
Fitted the bonnet vents, I think they look sweet, the cut outs I had done in the under bonnet protector dont stand out as much as the pic. I fitted the new washer nozzles to the bonnet, what a pita, basically they don’t fit. In the end I had to cut off the nozzle part on the inside to get them in there. At some stage I will try and score some genuine ones. Also for some reason recently the wiper/indicator fuse 14, was blowing. Did a bit of investigating and when I pulled the plug out of the wiper motor no issue. So the wiper motor was cactus, so quick trip to a wrecker and that’s all working again.
So its all looking purdy and ready to go. For anyone not in SA the weather is horrendous out there. If there is a break in it I plan on taking it down tonight, but I may have to wait until morning not sure. Not too happy about driving it potentially on wet roads but I have to get it there somehow and no way I am trailering it. Fingers crossed.

Posts: 5 777What a great show. Super happy with how the car presented. But also ran, started etc flawlessly. After the event was a long slow cruise up to Holden’s factory and through, temps, pressures etc perfect the whole time. Then on the way home gave it a couple of hits on a quiet road on the way home. Holy shit it literally smokes them endlessly without going over 4,000 rpm. Its just crazy fast. Love it. Also picked up the trophy for best second gen. Loving it.

Posts: 5 777I really enjoyed my self at HbH. So whilst there I decided to finally get off my butt and formally join the Commodores and Classic Holden Enthusiasts (CACHE) car club. I would like to start doing some club cruises, meeting, etc, and they seem like a genuinely nice group of fellow enthusiasts. Turns out they are doing a display of some club cars at the Extreme Auto Expo in November so I am going to display the old girl inside. Never actually been part of a formal display before so should be fun
September 10, 2019 at 9:29 am #29755Got any close up pics where you can see the intake better in the bonnet?
Any of the data shows you what intake temps are?

Posts: 5 777Will try to get some on the weekend. Tbh no I didn’t think to actually see what the intake temps were before. I can say that before after a while if I lifted the bonnet it was hot as hell under there. It’s way better now, but I appreciate that not a very scientific measurement unit

Posts: 5 777Thought I would bring the old girl into work, which is about a 45 minute drive. Ran like a dream even in the heavy traffic. Only downside was it was full-on sunshine when I left home, and then it turned a little foggy/misty. Eng temps rock-solid, oil pressure great bla bla, zero issues. Happy days!!
