Posts: 78Can anyone tell me if the v6 and v8 rear ends are the same ? I think they are, but want confirmation, because I plan on doing the conversion for more dish next year.

Posts: 5 777To my knowledge they are similar but different and wont fit a VZ.
November 30, 2016 at 7:20 am #20832They fit with some tweaking. That’s how everyone running decent dish on Vy-VZ is doing it.

Posts: 78I chatted with him on messenger, and he said he has a guy who makes cv’s that will handle the horsepower my car is making to. What cv’s do you guys run? An LSX454 would surely destroy standard cv’s pretty quick. I googled and couldn’t find anything on early holden cv’s, plenty for vt onwards, g force , some stuff from summit and pedders, but nothing for earlier commodores. I want to run vn/vp rear end so i can get an extra 50mm of dish. Will also mini tub and do the harrop coilover kit, so will hopefully get some 10 inch Weld Draglites under there. Should be sweet.

Posts: 5 777I am using G-Force on mine, they made them to my length to suit the VR (I supplied the dimensions). Not the cheapest going but basically indestructible.

Posts: 78I was under the impression that vr/vs had the best clearance for wide rims. i had 255/35/20’s on the ss and scrubbed under hard acceleration on standard fe2 suspension on the inside and the gaurd. the tyre was fitted to an 8.5inch rim.

Posts: 5 777I can only vouch for the irs VR, I did a lot of work on this before getting my rims custom made. Its all about the offset on the wheel. 31P will allow you to fit 10″ rims, I currently have 275’s on there but 295’s should fit. Pete (Manta218) just fitted 10’s to his using 31P and were perfect. All the info is in my build thread on what I did. If its more dish you are after easily/cheaply I think from memory using stato stub axles give you more.
