Posts: 227How do you get your VN-VS up on car stands?
Right, so I only just got a low profile jack that will fit under my VS Senator. I’m a bit perplexed on how to get it onto car stands quick and efficiently… IRS adds to that…
so jack up the rear end from under the diff. Then where to put the car stands? Assuming under where the IRS frame attaches to the body.
now front end… put the jack under the crossmember, from the front of the car, but can’t pump the jack handle up and down….
used to have no problems with standard jack on my VK Calais…

Posts: 5 777I reckon thats the go with the rears, but maybe the fronts you run it up on some lower profile ramps first so you have enough room for the jack? Or some V8supercar pneumatic jacks

Posts: 535For IRS I put the stands under the rear subframe chassis mounts.
I have issues jacking up the front of the Senator too. Fortunately my driveway drops down beside the house so I park the Senator with those nose over where it starts to angle down which gives me just enough room to be able to jack it up. I am planning on getting some of these though to make it easier everywhere else.

Posts: 227hmm the ramps are 70mm high… i would assume that would get me a couple of pumps to get the jack going…
My Senator is standard FE2 height too!

Been there before hahaha
September 27, 2015 at 9:39 pm #9655Nothing wrong with wood… I mean, I wouldn’t use a 2×4
Build some of these. Mine are only 3 levels high as I originally built it just to get the jack under but it’s still high enough to drop the oil if need be. From memory only used 3 lengths of pine for a pair. A lot cheaper than those $140 plastic ramps!

Posts: 105I had some leftover sleeper from a retaining wall. Think it’s 200x50mm. Cut through it at 45 degrees with a circular saw and works fine. Full sleeper was only $10. If i need more height i might buy a sleeper at some point and stack two like above. That would give me 100mm between tyre and ground which would be able for things like oil change. When jacking rear wheels only i use same bits as wheel chocks and hasn’t failed me.
My jack isn’t low profile though and i use a piece of wood between jack and any point i’m jacking. Only problem i ever have is the handle likes to hit the bottom of the bumper sometimes on the first couple of pumps.
