You won’t be getting engineering with a 232/238 cam, or any thing aftermarket for that matter.

It slipped in under a blue slip in 2012 as it lies now within the 20% power and capacity rules of the VSI at that time. Most of my mates in the game won’t bother worrying about a small cam during a pink slip as long as the external factory emissions are in place. I don’t drive it to attract attention and it hasn’t so far lol.

The cam has been sold, looking for something a bit bigger but not aggressive. The exhaust is quiet but a lump in the idle can’t be hidden. I want to push it into the 11s and not any further as it is a daily.

my old cam was prefect for daily. And would go 11’s in that thing easily. Too many people over cam these engines and the loose out to smaller cam’d engines.

Ran at the street meets at Sydney Dragway lastnight but couldn’t better the 12.8 lol. Ran a few 13.0/12.9’s.

All 1.9’s. Need to adjust the rear brakes as it was breaking traction very low in the rev range. Not too stressed as it was more of a base line for future mods and working out what needs improvement. A high 11 is all I am after, any more than that and it goes from a daily/sleeper to lost in a crowd of modded Commodores lol ;)

Pics of the Simmons should be up this week. Finally got some time for reassembly but wasn’t expecting it to be so labour intensive   Stripping old silicon off 4 inners and outers, cleaning 80 nuts and bolts, wax and grease remover everywhere, setting up a clean spot to reassemble, applying new silicon in a way is doesn’t leak of lift, then loctiting and torquing bolts…. After 6hrs, I have two rims fully assembled and two requiring the last 16 bolts each. Once that’s done and valve seals are replaced, the tyres will be refitted and a final polish done so pics can be taken  :yahoo:

Lol, for some reason, the formatting was playing up overnight and it wouldn’t split paragraphs. Kept getting <p>’s all through the comment. Tried to fix it 3 times and gave up. Fixed it a minute ago

Edit: Ahh, just got what you were referencing to lol..

    Nah all good :good:

Would a 9″ really needed running those numbers?  Just seems a fair $$ outlay.

Had a nine inch before and not a fan. The centre felt as heavy as the VLT diff sitting nearby. A BW78 4 pinion will be the next upgrade if any change is made.

I suppose its for piece of mind but yeah its a big outlay and the auto would be a bit more friendly. Im used to the manual and u definitely punish the diff more, just ask my last one that slightly exploded lol

I do agree it is nice to know its pretty much bullet proof back there.  My 12 bolt gives me piece of mind but they aren’t bloody cheap.  If I remember rightly there is something to do with the pinion angle which means a 9″ robs a bit more power than the 12 bolt,   but flip side is it means the 9″ is slightly stronger.  Diff longevity has a lot to do with the mechanical sympathy of the driver, and also how well it hooks up.  I am assuming the RB30t boys don’t always go 9″?

There’s always a catch to everything, if yu want total piece of mind ur goin to have to hand over sum power and put on weight for it.and then cross ur fingers nuthin else breaks!

Mags finally sorted after sourcing new bolts. Looks great on a VK but not quite fitting into the Calais look lol.

I love how clean this is. Wonder if you could stick an L98 in one under the same regs…. they would fall within the 20% capacity requirements, just.

A guy up that way is currently doing an LS3 conversion into a VH, but the engineer will be involved.
