Posts: 5 777Dam fuel pump started to play up so I got a walbro gss342 pump that was great fun fitting it into factory basket anyway it’s all done and back together was a little bit tricky but luckily I pulled out my best wand and managed to get it done
Pity you didn’t take a couple of pics, good for reference if anyone else does it Nice work btw, so other than that its reliable so far?
June 26, 2016 at 12:21 pm #17946Or bin the factory tank and get/build a drop tank with it all incorporated. (thats to Cava btw)
nah I like the standard look. Works out much cheaper also

Posts: 5 777Yea not 100% sure about that. If you add up everything etc I reckon there isn’t that much in it. And if you are talking about labor/ease. Remove tank, bolt up new drop tank, 3L inbuilt surge, 80L capacity, job done. And there is nothing not to like about the look of an ally drop tank stuffed under one of these imo. To each their own though, but there are always options, not picking a bloody fight
June 26, 2016 at 1:27 pm #17949What did your tank set you back.
Surge and 3x walbros owes me under $1000.

Posts: 5 777My tank was $1500. So I get 80L capacity, no need for surge, nice area to mount pumps etc, and there is a lot of smarts built inside the tank as well. And all in a beautiful, legal, self contained single piece unit. Not much in it $$ wise imo. And if you are like Pete and can fabricate and weld aluminum, well its even better. Sorry for the thread hijack btw Pete!!
June 26, 2016 at 2:17 pm #17953That’s good price Gary
honestly thought that that would of been more like $3k for yours
don’t worrie about thread hack
if I had it my way I would of just hacked my manta build with this one lol
June 26, 2016 at 2:19 pm #17954Was only able to get about 73 L with dual exhaust
myn goes all the way up to chassis rail at back of diff and all the way to back rail
to to remove harrop diff cover would be either a diff removal or tank removal
tank removal in myn is very easy

Posts: 5 777Yea I remember watching you build yours Pete, having to have room for pipes each side makes it a compromise of course, 73L is still pretty good. I do think its a great value, as I say he won’t say exactly what but there is some smarts with baffles, zones etc in mine, he calls it a “pre surge”. They builds stuff for massive hp guys, like 1500/2000 hp drag cars. he knows his stuff. Then of course you could just sit and look at the welds all day long ha ha. Anyhow, got my regulator off and cleaned up, about to pull the injectors. really need to get a laptop back out in the shed like before so I can keep up with the posts etc while spinning some spanners.

October 17, 2016 at 10:02 pm #20201Hi there buddy
haven’t been on here for a while, progress is that Iv done 9000km in it and with in the first 3 weeks of having it all painted I drove into a drive way with a gate track and slit a small section of the front end on it then about 2 weeks after that my drive way has a low part of dirt to side and when I was moving it so I could get my manta out also chipped a small section on side skirt lol
its is ok was only minor but last week I pulled front end and side skirt off and fixed them up and hopefully paint them tomorrow or with in the next few days lol
have lifted the car 20 mm now so hopefully I won’t go scraping anything anymore lol
as in progress im doin front door trims and stereo system when ever I get time to

Posts: 5 777I was talking to Jason Waye (tuff mounts) at the last show I was at and he was telling me about this new air bag thing they do now. You use the normal springs but there is a small (say 50mm high) airbag donut at the top, and its designed to be pretty much solid, ie no give. The idea is the real springs do all the work of the suspension, but the airbag you just use to raise and lower it the 50mm to say drop it or if you need to get into a driveway if that makes sense? Because its so small you don’t need a huge air tank and the pump running a lot. I thought it sounded like a very good way of quickly raising and lowering a car.
October 24, 2016 at 9:32 am #20299Same concept as drop in bags
October 25, 2016 at 7:04 pm #20329I actually supprised a suspension company hasn’t created a hydrolic lift on front like most Supercars have
