Hi all. As the title suggests, I’m looking for tips on removing a stuck tie Rod end in my VH. I need to drop the rack to fit my headers (ls1 conversion). I’ve removed the crown nut and hit the tie Rod pretty much as hard as I can with a claw hammer, and it won’t budge. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s still the original unit. Any tips? The car is on stands and we’ve tried it with both the suspension hanging, and with a jack under the control arm to level it out.

Hit the side of the knuckle with the hammer, a good sharp crack will pop it out.

As IJ has said or also try using a tie rod remover, the one like a clamp, put it on, tighten it up then the hammer trick and it should pop out.  On my daughters Hiace I ended up having to use a little heat as well to un freeze it then off it came.  Of course destroys the rubber boot but if its shagged anyway it doesn’t matter.

Tierod/ball-joint separators are cheap and pay themselves off on the first set of reusable bushes.

I got one of these and works alright. It wont do the ball joint in a commodore though, only tie rod.

Big hammer and solid hits to the knuckle does the job.
