Posts: 775are you able to post pic of the tie bar set up and what you have now
August 5, 2017 at 5:31 pm #23895They were just Morel Tie Bar Lifters pretty Generic as they’re rebranded by just about everyone, now it’s GM LS7 Lifters and plastic buckets, in hindsight how I should have gone from the start as it was never going to have a big Cam or high RPM…
Have since read a LOT of bad reports on the Lower spec Morel’s…

They were a relatively new thing back when I built this engine and I didn’t know any better and there wasn’t a lot of data around about them, heard a few reports of very poor quality control and bad tolerances to the point one of the big suppliers have boxes of them they won’t sell due to the issues their customers have had..
Motor is quiet as now, all you hear at idle is the Blower doing it’s Cement Mixer thing… I used to think it had heaps of Piston Slap before..
August 7, 2017 at 11:22 am #239452nd Shakedown on the private road complete, there’s a dirt section and while I wasn’t giving it heaps I did accelerate fairly hard which normally would mean a LOT of squirming around as it scrabbled for grip front to rear, this time very planted and just stayed straight! roll on Saturday! :D

2 Day event I hope to get a couple
The Bitch still has a drinking problem… 34 L/100 and that wasn’t pushing all that hard and it was on Cruise Control a lot of the time…
August 7, 2017 at 5:16 pm #23963Damn that’s ALOT of fuel. Is it on e85 or just pump 98? Do you know why?
August 7, 2017 at 5:21 pm #23964Blown 6.6L and a Hilly Test track would be my guess… AFR’s were fairly good the whole run..
Tall Diff gears, BIG Diameter tyres and keeping it locked up in 4th wouldn’t have helped much.

August 13, 2017 at 6:05 pm #24019LOL thanks Cav, Car was totally awesome even soft peddling it due to the new engine I was at the pointy end both days!
August 13, 2017 at 6:36 pm #24020Good stuff Ian. Gotta be wrapt with that. So I take it your happy with the new transfer case.
August 13, 2017 at 7:04 pm #24021Totally transformed it Cav, it’s gone from something I really didn’t want to drive to something I’m hanging to race again this coming weekend!
They had our presentation night for last season Saturday night and I was a bit surprised to hear I’d won 3rd over all for my class and a second place trophy for one of the Tarmac events we did!
(my season was so bad I didn’t think i stood a chance)
August 13, 2017 at 7:46 pm #24031Winning tropehys with a car that’s 50/50 is a great achievement. Should be really competitive now. I doubt there is anything like it.
August 13, 2017 at 8:06 pm #24033Thanks Cav, yeah very surprised seeing how many issues I had during the season and how intent it was on killing me!
