Posts: 5 777Something a little sexy about an engine all cleaned up and ready to go….
July 12, 2017 at 4:10 pm #23533It’s actually gone together really well I’m happy I’ve nailed the issues!
July 13, 2017 at 12:04 pm #23538Blower cleaned and inspected/installed, there have been a few reports of these eating the Bypass Valve which in turn trashes the Rotor pack… Happy to say mine is perfect not a mark on the rotors so the filter system is doing it’s job!

Posts: 5 777What a bloody piece of kit, awesome. Is the black powder coated IJ or did you paint it yourself?
July 14, 2017 at 1:43 pm #23548Wasn’t sure if it was going to actually work so I just painted it with Satin Black Rattle cans Gary, means it’s easy to touch up if I needed to change geometry ;)

Posts: 5 777Yea good plan I guess for you in case you bend anything. I have found the powdercoating on mine to be super durable, but it does mean sending it off and cost.
July 14, 2017 at 3:45 pm #23550Yep as well as it needs really careful masking on parts that need tight tolerances which can turn into a nightmare if forgotten…
I really thought I’d have bent the car badly by now but so far so good, maybe next refresh I’ll send a bunch of bits off and have the Powder Coated, for awhile there I was doubting my choice in using the Lexcen due to it’s Schizo handling traits and started looking into something smaller/lighter…
NONE of the cheaper modern cars I looked at were any lighter for the base car and in hindsight with this much power and torque the longer wheelbase and wider track can only be a good thing, only place I find it tough at times is on hairpins and through chicanes, if they leave enough room for me the smaller cars get a free kick and just straightline them..
July 14, 2017 at 5:17 pm #23552You need to update to a VR.
July 14, 2017 at 5:18 pm #23553Scrap that. Thought you owned a POS vs
July 14, 2017 at 7:06 pm #23555Ummm it is a VR!
(surprisingly it’s always picked as a VS though)
July 15, 2017 at 9:51 am #23562Hopefully the final piece of the puzzle!

Posts: 5 777What does it weight all up IJ?
July 16, 2017 at 7:04 pm #23627It’s 38 Kg Dry Gary, not too big a deal as it’s low in the car and a long way back!
(well not a big deal till you have to pay the airfreight to get it here…)

July 16, 2017 at 9:13 pm #23631Originally wanted to get it around 1400 but that blew out with the Skeleton and Roll cage to stiffen it up, didn’t realise they were such Tin Cans compared to the VY/Z’s

Posts: 5 777Yea for sure they are pretty light. I would have thought for an AWD car that’s pretty bloody good. I suppose if you got keen you could do a carbon bonnet and boot lid? I know that test bonnet I had surprised me how heavy it was, imagine the boot lids a bit the same.
