Havd heard the firing order is it.  Seems a major thing to change.  Is there a reason?

Think it’s to change the harmonics in the engine, they just sound like a vacuum cleaner at idle..

The Tonner isn’t too bad but it has a LOT of exhaust on it for a 5.7…

If only the Ls Had a Holden firing order. Then it would be perfect. In saying that, I don’t mind the idle. My ute used to idle pretty sweet

^yea sounds nice, funny how they are OK at idle, but not at cruise.  Someone somewhere wrote that people have changed the firing order, but man that’s got to be huge task wouldn’t it?

Combination of things in the end, ALL fuel related, partially blocked filter, Wiring to the pumps wasn’t even close to thick enough as I’d been given incorrect specs on the current draw, and having the Return plumbed into the Main tank and not the surge…

It wasn’t running out of fuel in the traditional sense under power as each pump has enough volume to run the engine flat out but when I was closed throttle above 2200 rpm both pumps were running flat out against closed injectors so was returning more than the life pump could supply…

Lift pump is an 044 Bosch so I figured it could easily keep up… DOH

Not really.  Obviously there are limitations with the way the crank is made (and the various permutations of the big end throws) but change the cam lobes and the firing order on the dizzy.  To make a drastic change than the crank needs to be changed.

    For example

In the above diagram you can see with the standard LS firing order the next cylinder to fire is always on the opposite bank  except the 8-4 where as with the Holden engine

You can see that 2 cylinders on the same back fire consecutively  on each back which is what give that very noticeable exhaust burble.  You can also see it is basically the same (they number the cylinders differently as the early Ford firing order which I believe Ford have gone back to on the new Coyote engine.
