Thanks again, it’s all too easy to do the “Woe is me” thing and stop living, Saw a lot of people fold along the way, I’m just way too stubborn for that!
I’ll get at least 1 day in and depending on how I feel Sunday morning will decide if I go back for more!

Posts: 5 777Def a lot of attitude involved in overcoming obstacles. The mind is a very powerful ally if you let it help.
May 13, 2016 at 5:01 pm #16823The whole learning to walk/talk again thing sucked but yeah agree 100%!

Every day’s a Bonus! :XD:
————————–
Race Day wrap up!
Man that was a mixed bag, rolled the car off the trailer early Saturday morning with the track shrouded in Fog, as they couldn’t see the other side of the track from race control we were limited to a single car on the track at a time but as there was only a small field it went quickly.
1st run out nailed it with an awesome time for the Lexcen, had a few people ask me after if I’d been out practicing, new leaner tune is awesome and so responsive and as I hadn’t changed the chassis at all since the last meeting I was in the zone!
Few more runs all going good then they changed the track layout to one with a pair of very tight hairpins, 1st lap on it and I arrived with way too much speed and over shot, I was aiming for an 80 second lap but with a 3 point turn including reversing back to the bend I did an 85..
Next lap got it right into the hairpin, hammered it off the almost stop/go corner it kicked back to 1st did it’s ground to ground missile launch Popped banged and carried on like a Turbo car that’s blown an IC pipe off then died… managed to get it to run again and limped back to the pits, they reset the track so I went out behind the pace car and back off and nailed it a few times for more of the same…
Didn’t want to risk lunching the Engine so loaded up and headed home, got back here thinking maybe it’s burnt a plug or broken a valve spring… pulled it apart and nuh all good..
So being tired and fresh out of ideas I decided to cancel Sunday, my mate Mark suggested we get his 2wd Celica going to share for Sunday as his GT4 had also fallen off it’s perch so I made the trip down to Melton then we went out to Bacchus Marsh bled the clutch put some oil in it then loaded it on the borrowed trailer and headed back to Mark’s for dinner.
I left to head home and it felt like someone had tried to steal the wheels off the Tonner and only got them loose, it shuddered and carried on so I pulled over to check, all good get back in and it’s slipping in 1st and 2nd.. ARGHHH drives fine in 3rd and 4th, make it to Gisborne and pull in to check trans fluid, all ok so decided to limp it home, in the meantime I ring another Mate to see if I can borrow a car, arrange that and make it home ok..
Shit nights sleep and awake to the phone it’s Mark come to collect me to go racing.. head out to the track and let me say this I haven’t driven a manual or a Fwd car in decades and never one on rally tyres in the dirt, we had a BALL, times were close and as this was the “free” car he’d been given we both pushed quite hard and made a great day of it, finished up there then headed down to collect the “Loan Car” back across to BM then Melton had dinner and headed home!
Got up this morning and went down to the shed to put the Lexcen back together so I could move it and get the Tonner on the Hoist, took it for a bit of a run and was able to reproduce the popping/banging BS, to this point I was thinking blown intake gaskets, burnt valve, something internal so was looking at dropping the engine and drivetrain..
Did a data log and going by what it’s doing it’s just the Hardcut limiter set too low for the new responsive tune… DOH will readjust it all and see how it goes, I’m very fortunate to have a great group of friends as when could have been a depressing miserable weekend wasn’t so bad, thanks guys!

May 16, 2016 at 4:05 pm #16925LOL Forums are a strange thing, you interact with people for years and have NFI what their name is
We did the interview about 20 minutes after I thought I’d killed it, I was surprisingly cruisy by that stage…

You need “Team Cav” attire so you can represent.

Posts: 89Great interview Ian. You were quite casual through the whole thing despite the car’s unknown health issue… Good job!
Nothing ruins your Friday more than realising it's only Tuesday...

I’d happily wear a long sleeve T, you can get them cheap direct from Gildan

Thanks Bug, by that stage the painkillers had kicked in
