Yeah slow and steady, it’ll get there no rush!

Today End!
Hardlines and fluid done!
Lexcen!
Took it for a short run to clear out all the crap in the tyres so I can see how they wore after the event, no probs at all as they’re fairly hard compound, pressure washed the bulk of the Mud off then put it up in the air and attacked it with the plastic hammer underneath, still have to do under the guards as it was still wet from the wash!

Posts: 5 777Looks like underneath my Kombi every time I bump it. Pity you don’t have anywhere outside you build some sort of drive on ramp set up rather than messing up that nice shed floor each time.

Was thinking about that this morning Gary, I need to build a wash bay high enough so I can pressure wash underneath outside!

Race day post mortem!
I normally use around the 20L of fuel for a full day’s racing, this event I used around 48L….
Last month I leaned it down a bit due to it being pig rich at WOT, at the time before the grooved tyres I was only using WOT maybe 20% of the lap the rest being closed throttle coasting until I had it pointed at a corner, when I leaned it down I only did the MAF side of the fuel tables and that is only active above 3000 rpm, anything below that is on the MAP sensor and explains the fuel use!
I’ve leaned it down 10% and will see how it goes next round as I figure 48L is a bit much for 8 minutes of competition, 4 laps at parade speed and loading unloading..

Posts: 535That’s an interesting rear sway mounting location?April 23, 2016 at 11:52 am #16243Yeah can’t say I’m overly impressed by it but it works and the owner is happy to leave it there.

Posts: 5 777Yea I drive past a sand blasting joint on the way to work. they have a ramp set up that gets the car maybe 1.2m off the ground, enough for the guy to get underneath and do his thing. My hoist only goes to 1.3m but its enough to get under it. Don’t lean the bloody thing out too much buddy, melted pistons aren’t a good look

It was filthy rich as I wasn’t sure what the Fuel system and exhaust changes were going to do, 10% will still be in a very safe place Gary, around the low 12’s AFR..
April 23, 2016 at 1:14 pm #16247Poonjabs near me have a hoist with a wash bay. $20 then do under bonnet and car. They hate when I rock up in The Director. LOL
April 24, 2016 at 11:59 am #16269Today!
Pulled the wheels off and cleaned the dirt out from under the guards, filled up a pothole out the front of the shed, I’m slowly bringing the track home 30 Kg’s at a time, bar filling it with fuel and checking tyre pressures it’s good to go for next month’s 2 day event!
April 28, 2016 at 11:31 am #16406Today End!
Crossing t’s and dotting i’s, just knocking over a few small detail things that might otherwise not get done before I build the Trans and finish up on this one!
April 28, 2016 at 3:35 pm #16412Been chasing a “grumble” in the Tonner for a few months now, sounds like a wheel bearing in the rear and was worse at low speeds (wheel bearings usually are worse at high speeds) Thought about it a bit and remembered back when I had the Adventra and it has torn the boot on the front CV of the Front Tailshaft… it did much the same speed wise but sounded like a wood chipper at low speeds…
Was under the car last week swapping in an o2 bung and had a fiddle with the front shaft and sure enough it had heaps of play… Car only has 116K Km’s on it but 50 odd of that was with the Blower engine so it might have copped a hiding… New CV arrived today so I swapped it in, when I was removing the old one it was as dry as a bone and 9 parts stuffed, sealed up the new one with Silastic after topping it up with grease and all good, grumble gone!
April 29, 2016 at 10:35 am #16431Today End!
Made up the mounts for the EL Falcon Electric fans for the Monaro and trimmed the shroud to fit!

You’d be surprised how many parts fitted to both Holden and Ford came from the same parts bins…..

Posts: 5 777Ah yes, but my theory is they didn’t come out of the Ford factory, I believe the interior roof light for example on a VR has a Ford and Holden part number. But the one in my car was never handled my a Ford guy
Btw I realize my almost pathological hatred of anything Ford has pretty much no actual real factual basis, but it is real in my mind

Posts: 535No, I get the Ford thing, I have issues with certain Fords, mainly the Aussie designed/built ones but I do like some of the American stuff, real Ford I call it.
