Whats the event tomorrow?
Autocross at my local track, I noticed your big thread is now doing the weird shit, wonder if it’s something to do with the amount of pages?

Thanks Gary, first run with the cut tyres so it should be interesting!
April 17, 2016 at 9:13 pm #16170Today End!
Tyres were MUCH better, car was a lot more confidence inspiring, still a bit sketchy but that’s a given trying to hook up this sort of power on Dirt!
Roof vent worked like a charm, now I just need some more seat time and learn to drive it better, got a bunch of vids and will upload em next trip to town!

April 19, 2016 at 9:28 am #16187Today!
Bolted the rear end back in the Monaro this morning, just off to town to have the Discs machined as I don’t have a mandrel to suit here and it’ll cost me more than the job is worth to make one for a one off job..

Posts: 5 777Wasn’t able to watch the vids last night on my tablet (not sure why) just did then. Wow, looks like your getting so much more grip now with the grooved tyres, and looks like your starting to get the feel for the car more? I reckon you could save a bucket load of weight though, and throw away the gearbox and put a speed boat dog clutch in it How much quicker do you think your times are now with the grooved tyres?

LOL I like the Dog Clutch idea!!
Probably cut at least 5 seconds off each lap, doesn’t sound like a lot but the average lap is around 1 minute so it’s heaps, I experimented during the day to find what the car wants/needs and my last lap (one of the camera fails) was pretty awesome with well measured aggression, one of the laps I tried staying off the brakes and keeping it rolling through as much as possible and dropped 2 seconds so that doesn’t work!

Well do it (seriously) 5 seconds, why not…

I noticed that, I was thinking fast into the corner, stand it on its nose, straighten it up as soon as possible then pull the trigger, rinse and repeat

LOL I meant grooving the tyres cut at least 5 seconds a lap off, our track isn’t a power circuit it’s too tight to open it up and they put chicanes everywhere so it rewards the lower power cars..
