Damn thing is going to fight me every step of the way.
Sure seems that way, but you will get there in the end I am sure
LOL yep always do Gary!

Today End!
With progress on the Monaro halted I did a bit on the Lexcen, it’s damn hot inside as we’re required to run with the drivers window closed so I bought a roof scoop, I’d looked at a bunch of different ones and most looked like they’d be more at home on a horse trailer so I dropped way too much on this one (cost more than I paid for the Lexcen)..

March 24, 2016 at 9:12 am #15192Does it have any filtration or is there a chance youll get dirt covered?

<nodding> always

It has a coarse aluminium mesh to screen out birds and other large things but no actual “filter”, my races are all single vehicle sprints so you’re not following in dust, I guess if you had a big lose you could end up eating your own dust but by that stage the lap is stuffed anyway.
You can close the vents and they rotate so you can point them away, it’s just to try and get a bit of cabin air into the car as this thing is damn hot inside with grey paint as the only insulation..

I wanted to give the rear ride height a small tweak while I had the Wheels off, one downside to Autocross is bringing half the Track home each time you run!
March 27, 2016 at 4:03 pm #15255I know that feeling when I have to service my 80series. Need a full face mask haha

LOL yeah that’s just from the wheel arches, there’s probably the same amount again in between, on top of I pressure washed it soon as I got home that day…

My tyre groover arrived today, after carefully reviewing all of the footage from the last event and discussing it with a mate I think I have a handle on what’s going on with the Lexcen.
The tyres I’m using are just All Terrains as you can’t buy rally tyres in 16″ anymore and I need that size to fit over the brake package.. They have continuous Edge strips so the gravel can’t escape at speed so in effect it’s “Aquaplaning” doesn’t matter if it’s on throttle or off braking or accelerating it’s slipping and sliding around like it’s on marbles…
Spent a couple of hours this morning cutting slots effectively making them into big Knobbies, I’ll see how it goes next meeting.

April 2, 2016 at 11:30 am #15387Today!
Hopefully this helps..

Posts: 5 777Looks great, have you had a look at rally tyres (I assume you have), I know you cant get the size to suit yours but are they set up similar?

Nah gravel Rally tyres work a bit differently, the have half the tread angled to sweep the surface and the other half set up for braking/acceleration, that’s my fall back position if these fail, I’ll machine the rotors down and drop the calliper mounts to suit and buy 15″ Wheels and proper rally tyres, I hope I won’t need to and these will work well enough till they wear out.
