Yeah it’s the single biggest improvement they made with the LS series the gaskets and seals.

^and a main bearing/lower block mounting system that would survive a direct nuclear hit compared to the Holden ;-)

Yeah there’s a whole bunch of “right”with the LS Series, just the sealing stands out for me as the old engines were pretty poor by comparison!

Yep, even GM developed a one piece seal for the venerable 350 Chev motor.

It’s unfortunate the Holden didn’t develop the 253 – 308/304 more since there introduction in 1969.

Yep the old “Plastic” could have been a good engine given the right development..

They went to a rubber seal in the later engines at least…

    Today End!

Early start and an early finish to today, the Cam Retainer had a crack/gouge in it and being a sintered part I didn’t want to risk it so have a new one inbound..

    Today End v 2.0!

Unloaded the Tonner, I collected the new Camber adjuster bolts from the post office this morning, looks like they didn’t have any loose bolts so Nolathane sent a complete Kit, I suspect they may have had issues in the past 6 years as the old set used Half thickness nuts to lock them whereas this set has full nuts, swapped em in all good, had to move the Lexcen out so I could unload it fired first hit no fuss no bother, really starting to like that car!

(steering feels so much better around centre now as well)

    Today End!

When I first “designed” the race car in my mind one thing I wanted was to get the Driver as low and as far back as I could given I’m a short ass, I adjusted the pedals and built the seat rails with this in mind, only downside was the ergonomics for the steering wheel weren’t great as as my Momo is just about brand new I didn’t want to replace it with one with more dish and I have the longest Hub I could find..

So today instead of snoozing in front of the TV while I wait on parts I decided to do something about it, handy thing about having a well equipped machine shop at home is it makes this sort of thing a bit easier!

Also will help out with knocking the indicators and wipers wearing gloves..
