I generally work in 2.5D Gary unless true 3D is needed, it just adds far too much code and cycle time otherwise.

My machine is just a home built Bridgeport Clone with a 4 axis controller, I only have it set up as 3 axis at the moment as I rarely if ever had need for the 4th..

The Dash insert above was done freehand with hand tools, just posted it as an example of non CNC work..  :XD:

If I used the Tractor there’s no room to get around the CNC and the ride on has more HP  ;-)

    Today!

Nothing much to report as I’m still waiting on parts, I did fix a slight fuel seepage at the fuel sender yesterday, the supplied nylon washers weren’t cutting it so I made some Viton replacements, all good now!

Pic is from the last event!

Ahhh viton, takes me back to my special purpose hydraulic design days, man they were fun times, when Australia actually had a manufacturing industry and we designed and built some very cool stuff.

I was lucky I had a few scraps left over from another job so used a WAD punch then a hole punch to make the new washers, checked earlier dry as a bone.

Nah not firing up the Water Jet for 5 washers…

3 days on and 0 seepage, I take that as a win!  :XD:

    Today End!

After having driven this thing at a few Dirt events now I figured if I’m going to run any Tarmac next year it needs a MUCH better grip on the Planet then the Falken 452’s on my other set of wheels can provide!

So with that in mind I got some wheels and Semi Slicks!

(they sent 3x 9.5’s instead of 2x 8.5’s and 2x 9.5’s, the replacement is organised)

I fitted up the 3x that were right and have to say I hate these stupid steel weights, it takes twice as many as lead and looks like arse ….

Hankook RS3’s for the front and Federal 595’s for the rear, $169 each for the fronts and $215 each for the rears.

Any reason for the split brands?

Just a gut feeling Ben, I “think” the 595’s will be better on acceleration due to the tread design and I wasn’t able to source a full set in either brand in the sizes I need..

    Are they street legal?

Yep fully legal Sands, not sure how long they’ll last on the road though, in my case it’ll only be half a dozen tarmac events each year and I have the Falkens on another set of wheels for “play” days where Traction isn’t an issue, I can recycle the Tonner tyres onto those rims once they get down enough to need replacing.

Mate I think you have built the ultimate big boys toy.  Looks like its a really versatile machine.  Be very interesting to see how it performs on the track.  I assume you will lower it all, do you need to play with sway bars?
