Thanks, Wiring, I ordered the fluids needed the other day, need to sort the spring rates and reinstall the Cage and Interior then it’s done!

This has been a bit slow for me Gary, for various reasons it’s dragged on a bit but almost there now, will have a bit of Debugging to do then I can start using it in anger!
I’ve figured out a Tyre combination that will let me run 245/275 front/rear and be within .5% so it doesn’t freak out the AWD for circuit/hillclimb use.
August 12, 2015 at 12:07 pm #8370Today End!
Filter arrived at the Post Office this morning, still waiting to hear back from my Repco mate on my Fluids so I’ll combine the trips and collect it all, while waiting I figured I’d Mount and Plumb my Catch Can system and the aftermarket Windscreen washer bottle, also plumbed up the Cooling system while I was at it!..
August 12, 2015 at 4:37 pm #8373Today End Again..
My Fluids didn’t look like arriving till late today so I went into town and collected my Filter, The Rubber ends on it take up a lot more space than I expected so I had to get a bit creative and replumb the PCV.

The Rad support is pretty ratty, I didn’t paint it when I did the bay, the flash makes it look much better than it is and given the end use of this thing I’m not sure if I’ll bother doing much with the body/paint..
Autocross on Dirt is a bit of a harsh environment..
Yeah it’s getting close now I’m looking forward to firing it for the first time to see what it sounds like :XD:

LOL I suspect you may be correct, here’s hoping it’s under my Club limit of 95Db though <fingers crossed>

Having become somewhat schooled up on exhaust sound level, will depend very much on at what rpm? Is it the standard road test measurement at a specified rpm?

Not really sure how they test it at the track, I’ll have to ask the scrutineer this weekend

I was working at the Clipsal trackside years ago, last turn out side. There was an official with a noise meter measuring the cars while racing.
There are free apps that you can use to measure decibels, no idea on accuracy but it will be close enough to guess.

Posts: 5 777Sounds drops away at (from memory) the square of the distance, so just measuring it a little distance away will dramatically reduce the reading. Road cars for example the measurement is taken only 500mm from the tip. I borrowed a genuine meter when I did mine but those phone apps are pretty good.

Posts: 82Yeah, Touring car mmasters where on track at the time. I remember the loudest car was a little Escort, you could hear it over everything. It was still 90 dB at the fence 20??m away.

August 13, 2015 at 9:29 pm #8429I have a Mate with a Meter, I’ll test it and if needs be I’ve left room for 2x extra Spirals to go into the system..
<fingers crossed> I don’t need to but we’ll see, the Spirals are an unknown quantity to me, Using conventional straight through Mufflers it takes a LOT to keep things “road legal” but 95Db is damn loud.

Posts: 5 777I moved my build thread over here after going through a lengthy and involved saga to get mine legal thats all in my old thread. I started at 113db, thats with twin 3″,H pipe and two central mufflers and a rear similar to standard. As you rightly say its not easy to “lose” a couple of dB!
