Mine are 51mm thick, I have a Hayden Trans cooler on the Tonner that has -6 Male fittings on it, when I had the Blower engine in the Tonner I had the Pwr Rad> B&M Engine Oil Cooler+ Trans cooler>AC Condenser> Harrop W2A….

It worked but wasn’t ideal in warm weather.

Only time mine was an issue was hot days in traffic with the AC on, other than that it behaved well enough, with the Lexcen and the sprint format of Autocross the Speeds aren’t that high so I moved the W2A Radiator and the Trans cooler to the boot with Ducts in the 1/4 windows feeding them..

Will see how it behaves, and how happy the engine is with less thermal load at the front, one interesting “fact” I came across while researching cooling is it’s bad to have a gap between Coolers, ie: If you space the Trans cooler out from the Radiator.

The Turbulent air between acts as a boundary and disrupts the flow through the next exchanger in line, so stacking them onto each other is a good thing.

Yeah I read that. Already brought some of those straps. The trans cooler actually comes with them. I thought back in the day they were just cheap junk LOL

LOL Glad someone reads what I post! B-)

(sometimes wonder as there’s not a lot of feedback on Aussie forums)

I’m listening and taking note. I’m going down a similar setup route, to a certain degree. So all the hints and tips help

    Today Lunch!

When I installed the drivetrain the last time I expected that was it till it ran, I knew I still had to get the o2 extension cables but figured I’d be able to wiggle them into their connectors in place… BZZZZZ wrong DOH, ahh well makes it easier to blank off all the unused holes in the Firewall…

Your my friend, are a DOER!

I dont know of many projects that progress at this rate, and there’s a wealth of knowledge here for anyone attempting a similar project themselves.

Many thanks for sharing this with us :D

Thanks Dan, been dragging the chain a bit on this one for various reasons, my projects usually progress a bit quicker, I’m happy to share knowledge and equally happy to learn from others if they have a better/different way of doing things!

    Today End!

And I’m back to where I was a couple of days ago, only this time I have a finished Firewall and Plugged in o2 Sensors!!

Lots of practice makes it easier…

With the Tonner I could drop the entire drivetrain in 2- 1/4 hours towards the end… grenading the Trans so often I got really good at it, I look at this last time as a good dry run in case I need to drop it again in the future, there are a few differences to doing the Tonner so now I know :XD:

    Today End!

Spent some time doing up ALL the AN fittings in the Boot this morning then did a rework on the Exhaust Tips as I wasn’t happy with the original angled Tips I made.

    Today p.s

Went back down to measure up for an Air filter, I had it in mind to build a complex box using a pair of stock elements as they’re “cheap”…. thought some more about it and decided a big Pod Filter would do the job better with some heat shielding to separate it from the engine bay heat, it’s not like this thing is going to do a million KM’s a year or anything and it’s no real hassle to service the filter.

The Pipe I was using before was pointing back at the ECU limiting how big a filter I could use, stuck with about 150mm long, I remembered I had a spare Harrop inlet pipe that came with the kit designed for the LS1 TB, cut off the small end installed the PCV fitting and it points to the right place so I can use a 300mm long Pod!

    Today End!

Went out and “fiddled”… stripped the rear tyres off the Rims and Rotated them to try and find a better balance that doesn’t need half a Brick of weights… sort of success it’s better than it was, bolted the wheels back on and put it back on the Go Jacks and rolled it into the middle of the shed so I can make a start on fitting the Wiring Harnesses.

Just letting you know I check this thread everyday. I wish I could comment every time. But I think I am left speechless and wish I could be as skillful as you one day.

    LMAO Michael, thanks!! :XD:

Bit quiet this week as I’m waiting on a few small parts so I can cross all the T’s and dot the i’s before getting it running.

I need to get it more or less complete and filled with fluids so I can get it on the scales and calculate the spring rates needed, I bought a set of light helper springs to drop it 56mm but still need to get the main spring rate close as possible, I’m hoping to have 3 pairs of springs to cover offroad and tarmac events doing the mixNmatch thing..
